A photo would have really helped here since a lot of the advice you are getting is guesswork as we don't know the full picture. One thing to bear in mind is that the cost will actually be £400 plus parts (indeed today I think the base service cost is in fact £450). Cases, dials etc are not included in the service cost. You may end up with a much larger bill to make a watch that will never be original since the replacement parts are not identical to the originals. I would cut your losses, either live with it and get it serviced somewhere else that wont insist on parts swaps, or sell it as is. If you continue down the factory service route you are pretty much certain to spend more than the finished piece will be worth, or at least a big chunk of it.
Yes it was £400 odd plus dial plus aother bits i think so at least £600

What would the parts be worth if I split them and sold as case back movement and dial?

$150 for the case at best
$300-400 for the dial/movement combo

$400~ for the watch as a package

Like others suggested, it's a fruitless pursuit, nearly impossible, so if it bothers you, sell it as a package, just to get rid of it, regardless of the price, if it doesn't bother you, go for the cheapest service

They did you a solid favor by providing the serial information, normally people spend 120 CHF for the information, and if there's an issue, they don't get any information back

In my opinion there are 2 types of pursuits, just enjoying a watch, which you can - or becoming a collector and going for correctness etc. - you seem to be leaning towards the second which is a miserable pursuit

I would have Omega return the watch. If they service it, you will lose the original dial, and they may replace it with a service Seamaster dial that isn't period-correct. So you could spend a lot of money and wind up with a watch that is worth less.

If you're not enjoying that watch, now that you know it's not original, just sell it as is. We're not talking about big money here. You could try to pick up parts or parts watches to restore the watch, and there's no guarantee in the end that there will be any net financial advantage.

I just like things to be perfect..

Another member/friend was in a similar dilemma and his solution was to sell/re-buy and consider that the gift, he was happy afterwards

Otherwise, you need to buy a 168.004 case to solve the issue

So you are thinking of buying a complete working Constellation for over $1000 to scavenge the case for your franken? Why? Seems crazy to me, TBH.

But if the information from Omega is correct, that should be the right reference. However, the case is in pretty bad condition, and it's not a particularly desirable reference IMO. Do you even like it?

Unless there is a lot of sentimental value involved, you would be better off setting your watch and putting the proceeds towards a nice original piece. You can just sell it as a working franken, or part it out.

Assuming that the information from Omega is correct and that you communicated it correctly ... yes. We still haven't seen any photos of your watch so we're going entirely on what you have posted, and we can't really give you good advice. For example, if your dial is damaged or repainted, then you would definitely not want to spend money on it.

I'm trying to find some pics of the watch as it's still with omega. Watch this space......

Don’t rush into anything. We want to help but wait until you get what you have back and post the pics. It may save an expensive mistake.

this is the correct reference , however I would suggest that your movt’s original case would not have had a brickwork observatory - so it all depends on how accurate you want to be.

As for this watch, whilst the lugs don’t look too bad, the case is not in good condition (scratches everywhere - and those gouges on the case back - ouch!)

The crown is a replacement, the movt is tired and has different parts including a replacement bridge and rotor. ( that don’t belong together )

And of course the dial is knackered.

£1250 with taxes would be an obscenity for this watch.
