Could you please help a dummy out by telling me what you think of this Speedmaster? Not my own photos, sorry, but hopefully they provide enough visual info to either warn me off or goad me on.

Have done this once before, here, and thank you all for helping that time (a warning off something). This will probably be my last query for some time, as I don’t want to abuse your charity!

looks like a clean speedy, but some things don't add up for me...

1.bracelet looks like an early, trapezoid, 1171, which would not be original to an 1984 watch.
    2. case looks pretty good, has some evidence of small dings and scratches, as would be expected... but the caseback paint looks like it had more wear than the rest would indicate.
    3. the bezel looks pretty good, but also has some signs of wear especially 75- 60 and that big scratch at 90- 85. more wear than the case indicates.
    4. given 2&3 i think it has been polished.

for me personally it has no vintage charm. the dial lume is stark white and shows no sign of yellowing to the tritium markers. hands same.

depends on you tastes and the price.

    Thank you, greatly appreciated!

Two more pics attached. Thought the tritium looked aged in a slightly green way, but perhaps it’s not showing in the pics. The asking price is just under $7000 AUD.

It looks like an honest watch, a well used example. You really want to see the movement and check the number is correct for the year. Has it been serviced recently? Here in the UK I wouldn’t be interested at that price, it would need to be substantially lower. I just picked up a 69 for far less. There are deals to be had if you’re patient.

I’d say around 5000 AUD is a more realistic value. Just my opinion. Check completed sales on eBay for similar watches.

Yours looks awesome. Thanks for posting. I think the price is too high for the one in Brisbane, but what do you think of its bracelet — does it look like yours, or like from an earlier era?

(Appreciate those details. If I go back in to the store I will look for similar numbers.)
