Visiting the Isle of Man after touring Ireland, happened to visit the Isle of Man Motor Museum which is fantastic. There are literally hundreds of motorcycles and cars from all over the world and much more including 2 used Russian space re-entry capsules and much much more (some pics to follow later).

Parked outside as I was leaving was this modest collection

Sorry about the formatting above I’m not sure how the pics became interspersed with the text, and apologies for some reflections the many skylights didn’t help with that.
I would highly recommend this museum to any motorhead enthusiast to visit if you have the opportunity. There is literally a wall of motorbikes 3 high and over 150 metres long and many more on the 2 raised walkways.
Among my favourites was the 1936 V16 Cadillac

There were 4 Facel Vega Excellence in various stages of restoration or not

The 1965 Fiat 2300S Coupe Ghia Abarth was when new twice the price of an E Type Jaguar

OK for those who have persisted with me so far and have an interest in space

And finally some of my personal favourite bikes and a 1955 Ford Continental with the wall of bikes visible in the background

You can of course visit or share my in person perspective vicariously through their Facebook page (link in previous post) for the many photos and videos available.

@hen what are you doing in my town lol.

most Sundays after that show I hold a coffee chat with an ex Formula Driver, ex editor of Hotrod, ex Porsche North American race team mechanic, some British car nuts and a random assortment of others just a few miles from that show.

Dad had a couple of E Type Jags too.....He ordered a new series 3 V12 2+2 coupe (signal red / black leather / automatic trans / chrome wire wheels) and was put on a long waiting list, he got sick of waiting (impatient bugger my dad) so he went out and bought a second hand 69 series 2 coupe in dark blue / black leather / manual trans / chrome wire wheels, to do him whilst he was waiting.... a week later he got the call from the dealer telling him his new car arrived early.
So now he had 2 E Types! he gave the blue one to my 19 yr old sister.
Anyway he parked the new one in the drive with the blue one and came out to find some bloke intently studding his car, it turns out this bloke had ordered one in the exact same spec from the same dealer but much earlier than dad.
The dealer had mistakenly given dad this blokes allocated order...the poor bugger wasn't a happy camper! especially as dad had 2 E types and this poor bastard had none!
This dealer seemed to often stuff up orders, when dad decided tho up date his series 1 XJ6 (russet "turd" brown / biscuit leather / OD manual trans) to a XJ6 series 2 in dark blue / black leather / auto trans) what showed up was white / red leather / auto trans.
He took it anyway as he couldn't be arsed arguing about it (dad's impatience strikes again!)
I paid accidentally got pay back on the dealer, a few years later when I borrowed a loan car from them (a Peugeot 504) and wrote it off in a head on collision with a mate coming the other way in his brand new Ford TF series Cortina Ghia........ he'd only had it for a few days!
it turned out the the dealer had forgotten to pay the rego before they lent me the car, so that voided their insurance!
apert from a few cuts and bruises I was the only one injured with a broken hand.
In a small country town it is highly likely that you will know the other driver in an accident.

Did they buff the scratches off the Cortina?
My mate hit a Honda Prelude 4WS in his old Cortina. Almost wrote the Honda off (about $15K to fix), he had to get a front bumper from the wreckers.

Nah both cars were crunched up to the windscreen in fact the poor old Corty met it's match with the 504, those things were built like a brick shithouse, which is why they were loved in all those 3rd world shitholes, as nothing the locals could come up with in automotive abuse could kill the bloody things, they're very hard to find here in Oz now, as most of the 2nd hand cars got exported to nth Africa and the middle east where they would fetch a better price as there was was great demand for them as taxis.
Funnily enough Renault and Peugeot shared a factory here in Melbourne where they assembled the cars, and they had the contract to assemble Cortinas for Ford as Ford hadn't the production capacity available in Oz at that time,
All of Ford Oz's other plants were at capacity building other models, so it was likely that both the 504 and the Corty shared the same production line.
