This is one of those statements that has some truth in it but it is not necessarily that clear cut.
See below extract from a study carried out by the universities of Exeter, Cambridge and Nijmegan
I wonder if they factored in the ecological cost of the manufacture and disposal and/or recycling of those lithium batteries

I haven't studied in minute detail but it would be a pretty poor independent study if they didn't. This quote from the study infers that they have taken everything onto account

"The researchers carried out a life-cycle assessment in which calculated greenhouse gas emissions generated when using cars and heating systems, as well as in the production chain and waste processing for those sectors"

My brother is a geologist and has said to me rather frequently that there is not enough lithium in the world to supply expected demand.
This article seems to support his argument.

I saw a similar article recently and I have no reason to doubt it.
Our discussion was about emissions but I accept that the debate overall regarding electric vehicles is far more nuanced.

Electric cars are for simps and lifestyle aficionados. If you want to be green, get a bicycle and use public transportation.

And, to get us back on topic, a C3 Vette in glorious blue:

Just got this 1928 Austin 16/6 a couple of weeks ago for free as a parts car but too good for that so I may look at doing a restoration on it, lots of spares also but somethings are missing.
Currently ( these photos) residing in my mum's garage awaiting a bigger workshop space to start the project.

Anything I might need to make I have my other complete road worthy 1928 16/6 to use to make patterns from.

Ifykyk.

One is mine, the other I’m assisting a friend sell. 733hp between the two of them.

So different yet so similar and products of the golden era of BMW. It’s only missing the Alpina b7 from the period.

Hey folks, I had a blast classic car spotting this week! Saw some real gems on the road, including a sleek Nissan Silvia. It's awesome how these classics still turn heads, right?

Plug-in hybrids with enough battery to get 20-30 miles fully-electric really seem like the sweet spot at the moment. My city's geological terrain (and lack of focus on infrastructure spending) mean that public transport simply can't be the magical answer. But I'm able to do 90% of my driving electric, with an added 350 mile range on dino juice when needed.

And the 400+ horse combination is also quite fun.

As for the topic at hand, I put this at the 4h:41m timestamp, I was seated at this corner for some wonderful vintage racing:

I wish I liked convertible 911's more than I do.
I could deal with a 991 and newer. But anything older I just can't get behind.
Which is a bummer because I love the idea of it.

I’m in the slicktop only camp now, too many repairs on sunroofs let alone soft tops over the years, it’s been the single greatest expense on my previous two cars, above anything engine or running gear related.

4-seater Austin sports. Too big to be a Seven, perhaps a Ten? No owner around to ask.

Edit: Seems it is a Seven.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/fairways4/39006101501/in/photostream/

The other interesting cars were in last year's post of this gathering, so here is a bonus motorcycle:

Engine is a Sturmey-Archer driving a Burman gearbox, but it should really have a J.A.P. engine. Not much else known about this make except some newspaper adverts the owner showed me.
