Had my one gracing the outside of the garage the other day, first time in months, buzzed around the neighborhood a few times to reacquaint the car with the outside world.

I’m in the slicktop only camp now, too many repairs on sunroofs let alone soft tops over the years, it’s been the single greatest expense on my previous two cars, above anything engine or running gear related.
Slick top Porsches are 😎. I acquired a Carerra White over Boxster Red 996 4S slick top this spring - was imported from Japan by a prior owner with no bumperettes. Been a blast - love the widebody and the back end of the car overall. The 996 is criminally underrated and I think visually aging better than many expected.

996's (even pre-2002) are growing on me.
Maybe it is because I'm becoming more tolerable, or maybe it is because I'm realizing it is the last 911 I could possibly afford at this point and I have no choice haha.

I would love a 997 4S but is it really worth 2.5x over a 996? My 996 is a hell of a lot of car for <$40k….

And with a backseat. I was driving an R129 Mercedes as my summer fun car but with daycare drop-offs it became impossible. The 911 has a genuinely usable backseat for my 3 year old and he loves the car.

That said, I absolutely loved the R129 - another criminally underrated car for the money.

Just spotted in local garden centre car park

Very nice! I used to have a 1975 MGB GT in British Racing Green as a daily. Loved that car. With the overdrive would happily cruise at motorway speeds. Sadly went to the great car park in the sky when rust proved terminal.

Every year on the last Friday of August we park in the same spot and watch a bunch of cars as they parade past us. Many residents in this rural setting sit by the road with garden hoses. They wet the roadway, encouraging drivers to spin their tires. In some of the photos you can see a combination of exhaust fumes and burning rubber.

No electric cars yet, but if one came, it would be welcomed with open arms, and a garden hose.

Photos taken from the safety of my parked vehicle.

I’ve been looking at C4Ss lately to add to the garage. I’m taking your post as a lovely sign to continue to the search.
