Got to drive a friend's Merak the other day. I like to change gears at higher revs than him so I think he was a bit nervous!

FWIW: I have found that changing gears at the published high torque shows best performance. Just sayin' 😉

Gear ratios come into it too. Is anyone else nerdy enough to have graphed out the torque curves of a new car against the gears and found the maximum area underneath thus giving the change points?

In practice on the road I used 1000 rpm under the red-line and in competition 2-300 under. Easier to remember.

Agree and yes I'm nerdy enough when it comes for owning/driving several different BMW M cars.
Even went to drivers school at Watkins Glen more than once 😀

I am not that way inclined, I just go by feel! My Super definitely likes to sing in the upper revs. Hate seeing people potter around in a 105.

A coupe Jensen Interceptor is a very rare beast indeed. I have watched Jensen prices go up at an alarming rate these last ten years or so. I still love the fact its a 7.2L V8 American muscle is an Italian designed British touring classic.

I’m going to argue it’s not a Ferrari. Not a single one was sold with Ferrari badging….

Owned one back in the 80's. Obviously you never looked at the VIN plate on one of 'em where it clearly says "Ferrari" 👍
