A sad time for me. I said goodbye to my hobby car, a car we bought new 44 years ago. As with old cars, you can spend a packet maintaining them. Our son (50 yrs old) loves the car. I had considered this car a legacy project with the idea in mind that eventually it would be his. So I have spent a LOT of money on it over the years, and 2022 would mean additional expense. In the financial state our son is in, he would be unable to continue to maintain the car, and would likely dump it at the first cash offer, when he inherits it. So I delivered the car to the new owner last Thursday. I know it will have more of a future with him than it would have if our son inherits it. Dam, I’m gonna miss that car!
I’d say the same for most car brands, even with more aftermarket wheel makers on the market than ever I’ll only ever buy BBS for their durability, lightness and tasteful style.
Actually, SUPER like! You’ve owned it for 45 years. Still looks like new!
In 1953, my family visited family in Detroit. We visited the Ford Rotunda which was the focal point for the 50th anniversary of the Ford Motor Company. The rotunda was designed by Albert Kahn, and was built in Chicago for the 1933 World’s Fair. Henry Ford had it dismantled brick by brick, and moved to Dearborn. The building burned in the 1960s. The highlight of the show (to me) was a Lincoln convertible with white metallic paint (gold flakes), all chrome gold plated, and all knobs on the dash, solid 14-karat gold. Gold was 35 dollars an ounce then, and there was $4,000.00 worth of gold on the car. Shearling carpets, white leather upholstery. I wonder where that car is, today! A banner year for Ford.
