The last OB I spoke with has 3 of these pieces in stock right now. I was surprised to hear it. I wonder if it is indicative of demand worldwide or if it's a bit of a microcosm.

Microcosm me thinks. It would be interesting to see how long it takes for the OB to sell them all.

Best practice with watch buying is always to buy good quality pieces that you really like and intend to keep and enjoy in the long run, then you win whether the short term value goes up or down.

+1 A wise man once told me this and it's the best advice I've come across in this wonderful hobby of ours =)

I bought this watch not so much as an investment but just the number 2998 is iconic and I wish I had it, the lollipop second hand, and the fact that the face resembles the panda daytona....I figure I will enjoy it. If it maintains its value....all the better, if not, my kids inheritance just got smaller.

Just received the watch...FANTASTIC... If you like the lollipop seconds of the original and the homage to an impossible to get original, then this watch is perfect..... It is just a fun watch to wear and if you know the history, it's the next best thing to own this watch. I am now looking for an original.

A local boutique has one that isn't spoken for. Just sitting there.

Where is 'local'?

it appears a lot more "flippers" purchased the watch than expected, artificially inflating the demand for this watch initially. I really like mine so as long as the secondary market price remains close to MSRP, fine with me.

Wow. A watch selling for less than msrp! Now that doesn't happen that often. .

What's the big deal. Its a gorgeous watch and with time it will fall into the hands of those that appreciate it.

Still waiting for mine to arrive such that i can enjoy.

Considering that owners are paying $7100 to by from OB (from what I read at least), this is $500 or more less. It's not a big deal, but I wouldnt have expected it to happen either, at least not yet
