Chanel J12 stopped

My wife has one of the above, it was serviced and the bezel was replaced about 14 months ago. She tends to wear it for a day or two then leave it to run down and stop for several days. She then resets the time and date shakes it to start and wears it again. Despite gentle reminders (or constant nagging, depending where you stand) it is never fully wound manually or by wearing.
She went through her usual procedure this morning and nothing, second hand motionless so I gave it a serious wind, maybe 20/30 rotations but not to the resistance/stop point, still nothing. I am used to winding my non automatics fully but have never reached resistance point winding my own 300 diver, never needed to as it is worn 24/7.
She says she has not dropped or bashed it!

Any suggestions other than send it in for another service?

Going to need to do more than shake it to get it running for more than a little time. And 20/30 rotations may or may not be enough either. Give it a good 50-60 rotations, then see what the power reserve is. If it is 48 hours or so, then it isn’t the regular winding mechanism. A lot of autowinder mechanisms don’t wind from a low reserve very well unless you are incredibly active, so I suspect a good wind will solve the problem.

If she isn’t going to wear it every day and also doesn’t want to wind it fully when it is dead, buy a watch winder and put it on there.

Going to need to do more than shake it to get it running for more than a little time. And 20/30 rotations may or may not be enough either. Give it a good 50-60 rotations, then see what the power reserve is. If it is 48 hours or so, then it isn’t the regular winding mechanism. Let me get this straight. You’re asking the message board for a diagnosis as to the problem with the watch. Not much chance of a diagnosis, but the solution is to have whoever serviced it check it out for you.

oooooooo, a miniature washing machine, cool

Kinda inconvenient to open/close with those 4 screws.....but better not to have water all over the place!☕

Yeah I think this is the more refined washing machine, not the Timex boat outboard motor equipped washing machines of years past.

I ask because the lady’s size ones have the ETA 2000-1 (mini 2892) which is notorious for failures. This one likely has a 2892. But it sounds like it needs a service, obviously.

Not so much a diagnosis, more any ideas for a solution! Being away from home (and the Chanel Centre that serviced it) for a month I am trying to quiet the constant questioning of why is ‘my’ (her) watch not working.

Thank you all for your highly useful ideas😉, I will contact the service centre when I get home.

Chanel guarantee the service for 2 years so I can send the watch back in and assuming they don’t find anything untoward (caused by my wife!) they will fix and return. I hadn’t read the small print and was not expecting that, seems reasonable.

Leading on, any recommendations for a single/maybe double auto watch winder? Looked on Amazon but would like some trusted advice as I know nothing about them.

Heiden makes decent and relatively inexpensive winders that are programmable. I’ve had one of their battery operated units for years and it has worked fine. Also, pretty quiet.
