Hi everyone
Having recently convinced my wife to consider joining me in this hobby of vintage watch collecting she asked me to find something suitable. Having very petite wrists she wanted to find a watch as close to or smaller than 20mm diameter…..a cocktail watch essentially.
I found something that’s being sold locally that I think might work but wanted to gain some insights before pulling the trigger. After looking up other caliber 482 watches I can see similarities in the movement and the dials of other similarly labelled watches but my biggest concern is the case back. This one indicates 10k gold on the outside which I though was typically on the inside of the case back. Also the inside of the caseback does not show a reference number. Both these facts have me a bit concerned. I see from the serial number on the movement that this was likely produced in 1958. Is this lack of information on the case back consistent for watches of that period?
Also the seller has been very transparent about the fact that the crown was replaced with a non original crown (I’ll have to find one later) and the crystal has also been recently replaced. The bracelet and strap are also obviously aftermarket. Otherwise I’m told its all original.
sorry if I’ve missed out any details……new to the forum and have tried to provide as much information as possible. And a bunch of pictures as well.
Any help in figuring out if I should be concerned about anything before buying would be appreciated.
