Brushed case Geneve 166.041 and how?

Hi there,

Can somebody inform me what the original finish of a 166.042 Geneve was. As far as I can see it had a brushed finish. Was the top however brushed up/down, left/right, or like a star (brushed to the outsides). I see them all over probably because of some restoration but want to know what is closest to the original. Example below.

Also, was the side also brushed or was the original side high gloss?

Mine is gold plate... but it's brushed vertically on the top running from 12 to 6. The sides are also brushed from 12 to 6. You decide what direction to call that. 😁

Edited to add: I just noticed I misread your reference number. Mine is 166.041.
