Breguet Tradition 7097 - my latest purchase

Wanted to share a picture of my Breguet Tradition 7097 in white gold, I’ve been after this piece for about 18 months, humming and ahhing about it as it’s a ridiculous amount of money. A few months ago I had seen one on chrono 24 from a dealer in Germany at a (relatively) good price but I never pulled the trigger on it and it got sold. More recently I saw another one come up at a similar price and although marketed as used looked to be in excellent condition.

Anyway, I ended up buying it and after my house and car this is the third most expensive thing I have ever purchased. I’ve had it a couple of weeks now and am super pleased, I think it’s a beautiful piece and seeing the movement on the front turn and pulsate the way it does reminds me of a beating heart, almost as though it’s a living thing. It’s not that common either (never seen one in the wild) so vs. an AP Royal Oak or a VC Americanes Historique which were also on my short list (and remain there for the future) I think I made the right choice.

Oh man, what an awesome watch, I love the Traditions and have often over the years fantasized about owning one...maybe one day. There are so many cool reference's in the range, which one is yours?

Thank you sir! It's the 7097, 40mm. The older references (I think 7057, 7037) are 38mm and don't have the retrograde seconds either AFAIK so even though they can be had for about 30% less cash I figured if I'm going to spend all this money I should get something that sings to me personally rather than try to compromise

The 7057 is a 40mm. Only the 7027 and 7037 are 38mm if I'm not mistaken. Like you, I also have been on the hunt for the last 18 months for a tradition. 7057 Silver dial to be exact. I really love the retrograde on the 7097 but the colors on the 7057 just pop more. Also, I want it to be my first manual watch. I own a ton of automatics.

It took you two weeks to share this with us?!? Would take this over the VC American Historiques. Excellent choice

Greeting from my manual wound 7057. My one and only open dial.
It’s my most enjoyable watch to wind. The clicking of the teeth are hypnotic.
It’s also my loudest ticking watch. A visual and audible treat.

That’s the money shot! The movement of the wheel on the front and the gears is mesmerising isn’t it

Don’t wear it on a Monday. Can’t get anything done.

smart move guys. FYI, if you are still hunting for a breguet tradition, many dealers are hurting on non-rolex brands. You can go in to offer a price and see if it sticks. 20-25% is not unheard of. AD gave a 20% discount on this to my uncle (brand new, covered taxes)

Beautiful, really stunning. I've always been fascinated by skeleton watches. Breguet created a delightful design in that you can see the movement and read the time as in so many skeleton watches it isn't easy to read the time.
Enjoy and wear in good health.
