Brand new Seamaster 300m with unfinished text on the dial!?

So I bought a Seamster 300m a couple of weeks ago from the local AD. Pretty happy with it, they even gave an umbrella and a hat. But recently I noticed the 'MASTER CHRONOMETER' text on the dial is not finished. It basically says 'CHRONOMETEP'... It is a genuine peace with all the serial numbers, certificates, etc. ! They even showed me when they activated the warranty with Omega. Is this normal for an Omega? Should I be concerned? Should I return it?

get a new dial and! keep the "old" one.

I doubt they will return the old dial with a warranty swap. When I’ve used the warranty I’ve never had any parts returned. Why would they? They won’t want that out in the wild.

Was thinking the same. I am also thinking of keeping it that way and I will try not to let them change the dial but rather demand an additional letter/certificate from the AD/Omega. For me it makes it kind of unique and I will always know this one is exactly mine, I find it kind of cool.

Good luck with that. It’s a bit unnecessary.

What exactly will you demand that they write on this additional certificate?

If this were a Rolex it would be worth massive amounts of money.

Either that or it's a sneaky homage to the newest-discovered Pharaoh, Chonometep.

These errors remind me of model decals that get stretched/broken and part of the letter either goes missing or is applied slightly disconnected....

That would drive me nuts and I'd ask for it to be replaced. But maybe that's just me.

Yup! If a Rolex they would have already sent you a cease and desist for impugning their reputation online and demanding the watch back (as we don’t really “own” a Rolex but pay for the privilege of wearing it- they can demand it back at any time), with a fleet of black SUV’s at your doorstep.

That was my first thought. For an Omega this is a printing error to get fixed.

For a Rolex this is now a collectors item because of a misprint.

They may return it. It would be interesting to see it they do or not.

It will be hard to prove in 30 years that the dial came that way from the factory. Typically we see missing letters on poorly done clean up jobs. Or somebody slipping off during service. That would be my first guess.
I would probably try to ask for a new dial if it bothered me. But if it doesnt just keep and enjoy your little secret 😃

Found the source of those dials 🤣 This is an actual shop outside of Ephesus in Kusadasi, Turkey

Seriously though, think it's kinda cool to have a factory error on a timepiece. If it doesn't bother you, then would wait till it needs to serviced. Probably 30 years down the line, there will be a market for these as collectibles since it was an Omega Factory issue. But as stated before, definitely get some documentation from Omega as I'm sure if they do become collectible, there will be fakes abound being cranked out.

I don't think this will ever be collectible as it's just a defect. It's an R with a piece of the print missing.

I've seen it before on certain brands that the print does not adhere well to the dial surface. Something sticky like rodico can peel off entire letters.

that's what you want...."Genuine Fakes" much better than all those imitation fakes about these days!

As for the misprint on the dial, well good luck getting the to admit they stuffed up in writing.....how very unswiss that would be!
Just get it done under warranty, in years time no one wont think it's not the result of a botched dial cleaning.
