Bezel misprint ?

Of course, as official data do not exist, we based our figures on mass observations and thus we might be wrong.

2 "220" lost in the middle of hundreds of DON bezels in the 29 million range...not impossible with a 45 years old production system.

More important is to consider the production date. Of the several hundreds 145.022-69 we have in our database, the relationship between production date and bezel type is rather clear:
- DON (type B1) until September/October 1970
- 220 (type B2bis) from end August 1970 to end December 1970 (possibly until January 1971 with new data we had, still to be verified)
- type B2 from November 1970

In both transitions, there might be an overlap of 1-2 months.

We can see earlier type B2, but most probably correspond to replacement bezel of DON, remember that B2 were factory-fitted until around 1990 and thus were the service bezels.
Finally, if those 29.11x.xxx with 220 bezels were produced in let's say August 1970 or later, that would likely work.
Very interesting! So mine 29113xxx produced on March 1970 probably born with a B1 and the B2Bis was fitted on an early service? Or later...

Does they mean my 29550 has also had a change of bezel?

Is it possible as you write Farmaco that some 220 bezels came with 29 million range. If this is not the case, why would they use a misprint when changing

29550??? I don't understand... Do you mean 29111?

Yes, I think precisely so.

Farmaco so my watch which has a ref number 29111550 was manufactured sometime between Aug 1970 to Jan 1971, and came with the 220 bezel.

Probably! But you can ask the Extract of Archive to Omega and solve any doubts

FWIW

My 145.022-69 has a 220 bezel and is SN# 30,99x,xxx. Per the extract from the archives, it has a production date of Nov 1970 which fits neatly within the window outlined by @speedy4ever.

For sure Your beautiful watch fall perfectly into the MoonwatchOnly range, but we are talking about the 29XXX ones.

Can I ask why the DON is more valuable even though 220 bezel is rarer?.

220s fit a narrow range of watches which are generally past the period most vintage speedy hunters focus on.

Italics for emphasis of the generality of this statement - there are many nice 70/71 speedies belonging to happy and fortunate owners. I myself am partial to the long indices however, and for that I need DONs as part of the package.

I was under the impression that DON and the 220 bezel are from around the same period, give or take some months

Most probably.
Possibility 1: it was changed a few months later (however one could imagine the owner did a big shock to the bezel)
Possibility 2: it was simply changed sometime during the last 45 years, unaware that it was a special bezel

Pay attention that within the range I indicated, there is no 145.022-69 between 30'600'000 and 30'989'999.

My colleague and myself will certainly come back with more information about that topic (may be a large review) in the coming months...

I'm sorry but I don't understand.

We need data points... get dates/sn#s from as many 220 bezel owners as we can and from 29xxx owners find out what bezel they have.

It's exactly that I'm trying to do...😉
