Mixte emotions

...and yes it is intentionally ("Mixte" - that is).

Went to our family summer house for some R&R. Had a look at the bike I built as a birthday gift for my mother - almost 30 years ago. Cleaned and waxed it a bit. Put air in the tires. Took it for a short spin (it is small...). Very nice - light and yet stiff.

Mixte emotions or mixed if you would like - my mother is 86 now and she is still going strong, bright as ever, but life at that age does not allow for any bike accidents and she gave up bicycling some years ago.

The frame is a cro-mo triple butted Miata One Ten. Built wheels for it with a rear coaster brake, grab on foam for the handlebar and made the rest as spartan as possible. She loves flowers and I handpainted the main tubes on top of the orignal Miyata paint. Back then I wanted to put a Brooks on it but she wanted a gel saddle - and it sticks out as really ugly. Now I have asked her if I can substitute it for a Brooks but she says "leave it as it is - it is still mine..."

Quite an emotional bike. Mixte emotional.

Back when she got it all those years ago - with installed vickers basket.

There is probably a motorcycle thread on here though.
Don't know for sure as I don't own one so have never looked.
Very nice "bike" btw...

Thanks...Since it did not say "Bicycle" per say, I thought my "bike" might fit the parameter...lol ;-)

I’m an avid cyclist and currently have seven *gasp* bicycles, but as a commuter I seem to spend the most time on this old ‘69 Robinhood. I believe this is really a Raleigh with some different badging. A terrific little bike if a little exciting in the rain.

That’s saying something considering I also have a much newer Pashley 5 speed Sovereign. There is just something sweet about these old Raleigh’s!

Only pic. of me during "competition"
Definitely don't look as happy as you hah...

That was from the St. Anthony's Triathlon last year.
Did a relay with the family and I obviously did the bike portion.
We placed 3rd in our division though! Not bad since none of us really trained hah.
Was not able to participate this year because my wife was due to give birth any day at that time.
Couldn't chance it.

I just finished a beautifully eventful and colorful 4th of July ride 👍.

It started with a neighborhood parade:

I continued on to the west, destination Kennesaw Mountain :

Wearing my beater/dive/cycling/4th of July Lew & Huey Orthos...

...and riding my 2016 Trek Madone 9.8..

...and back to the Parade Party 😁

Happy 4th, ΩF family!

Short ride to the beach before the grilling. Typical San Francisco summer morning.

Those colors (grey frame, bright forks, stem and bars) remind me of the lates 80s Marin’s. My first proper mountain bike was a Palisades Trail, probably around 88.

Edit to add.

I should dig out some bike pictures and add to the thread when I’m next out. Here’s my oldish Klein road bike which I should probably use more... only picture I have on the iPad.

Makes sense, this is the 1986 special edition they made for their 30th anniversary.

Tour starts this Saturday.
Perhaps I'll get my bike on the trainer and ride along...

Speaking of this, anyone here using Zwift?
I have been interested in looking into this as, since I have said a few times already, I have been getting out less and less these days.

A very welcome weekend of riding down on the coast. Based around the Seven Sisters , took in beaches, hills, forest and spot of wading.
Took my training bike, haven't used it in a while and had completely forgotten how good it is.
