A 1974 Bianchi Specialissima. Last chapter of this restoration was written a couple of days ago. I have some weeks of summer leave and took the opportunity to do the last things to finish this build.
Fabulous! My first ‘good’ quality bike was my Peugeot UO8 while my brother had a PX-10 with deluxe lugs back in the 70’s. We both had the same Unicanitor saddle.... haven’t seen one since.. until you posted this; Bravo!!
When it's a slow morning at the office.... Not this weekend, but next, my wife is finally going to get back on the bike 4 months after giving birth, and after about 10 months of a hiatus. So I'm pretty pumped since I have not been riding at all.
A quick blast round the forest, which seemed to be entirely populated by middle aged men sweating out of their teeth and cursing the heat wave. I was in very good company. Learned some new swear words too.
I can still see some white. They should probably make that logo bigger. I do like that purple one though!
The purple is sort of a flipflop cameleon chanching to somelike greenish as well, like some old Klein designs was. the last one looks in its changing clours like "Iron Man"
Yeah, thats all very pretty and all but not enough mud for my liking. Found some in a heat wave while riding around in a thunder storm
Yes, using Zwift in winter with a Tacx Neo. Plenty of training programs and group riding, way more interesting than sitting on the roller. Anything specific you want to know?
Correct, I was thinking the same. Although pre-Trek Kleins used to have nicer paint jobs in my opinion.
I started this project with the thought of… Maybe not giving it back its glory - I would however resurrect it – giving it, at least, back its honor - and I wanted it to be like a tired, battle hardened and scarred hero that makes a comeback with success. Today it was finished. I do believe it has got its honor back. Here is how it was found: And I have thoroughly enjoyed resurrecting this bike. A late 60ies Bianchi Specialissima. Top of the line at its time. And now for some pictures:
Lovely day for a ride to nearby town of Amhurstberg, Ontario. It sits along the Detroit River and makes for a nice destination (~30km) before heading back.
I’m in NYC for a few days, and found a great rental bike for the City at Danny’s Cycles. Pics (and a video if I can get it in) from today:
Descending Queensboro Bridge was nice: Roosevelt Bridge was short and bumpy, with the ’mesh’ see-thru bike lane: Tomorrow, the George Washington Bridge to Joisey!
If you make it to the upper east side (specifically 3rd ave and between 79th and 80th) check out Bicycles NYC. I used to work there when I first moved to Manhattan.
First ride in 3 months. Was supposed to be my wife’s first ride in almost 9 months but as I was loading up the bikes I noticed her back wheel was very out of true and a spoke was broken! Apparently the last time she had it on the trainer she popped it out and I guess never told me and forgot about it. So I rode, she didn’t haha. Maybe we’ll both get out next weekend but it was great to be back out. Although I definitely have some work to do to get back into shape.
