Bought this today, an e bike.
Bought it for the wife to use as she is just too resistant to driving the car.
Trouble is one bike ride on it and I am hooked! 21 speed, just a 300 watt motor assist but wow that's all you need.

Beautiful day to organize some bikes?
Finally getting around to (attempting to) organizing the new garage.
Too bad the bikes haven’t been ridden in months.
Hoping to change that soon though.

So I’ve still got this 2016 Cannondale Synapse Carbon with a 105 group set on it from years ago. Over the years of neglect the group set has become quite rusty, the wheels were not in the best shape either from hitting potholes and kerbs while close to their weight limit.

As I’m getting down into the weight range where I should be able to ride again, is it worth trying to replace the group set and put it back into service since the carbon frame is still perfect, or is the frame not really worth much 10 years on or not compatible with modern sets? It appears to have internal cable routing if that makes much difference.

I'm sort of in the same conundrum. My TCR is almost 15 years old! But it has aged quite well in my opinion.
I'm running a mix of mechanical 10 speed SRAM Force and Red. And I believe most of these older frames will still accept the newer groups.
The only issue you may run into is getting the group you want that still has traditional caliper brakes.
I don't even think you can get mechanical 105 anymore. I believe the group is Di2 with discs. So you'd have to drop a level to Tiagra (which at this point would probably be an upgrade to your dated 105!).
In my mind, you only really have two options:
Get the bike serviced as is, or even find some used pieces that are in better shape. OR...
Get a new bike. As I don't think it would be worth it to "upgrade" what you have now.
And I didn't even touch on the wheelset...that can add up as well depending on what route you want to go...
Also, have you ever been fitted for your bike? At first glance, I would suspect the frame is a little on the large side for you just based on your seat height. I say that without having any clue how tall you are hah! But the geometry just looks a little off.
But I've seen crazier things. My wife is almost 5 ft 10in and she rides a mens small to accommodate her reach. But has longer cranks to accommodate her longer legs.

105 is still good stuff and should be able to be restored fairly easily. Splurge on some carbon wheels and good tires and enjoy it.

Hi again

I missed your answers to my post, sorry.

After some intensive research, I did my own shortlist (taking into account availability where I am) and I finally ordered from the UK a Fairlight Secan 2.5, it should arrive in late November.

I’ll post a picture when it’s here. Fairlight faran also looked great… and for what it worths the main contender was the Brothers Mehteh proposed by a local shop. And during my research I realize I had a great custom builder just in my neighborhood (Cycle Victoire) but the entry ticket was just too high (>10k€) for a starting point but I know there are here 😗.

Now I need to get it and get out !

My kids are also getting equipped to do some biking holidays & short trips together (they will get the woom explore).

Thanks for all the recommendations. And for this inspiring thread.
I thought I would share those pictures here - as this thread started it for me.
They were taken in scotland in Iona island.
It was a great day with the all family cycling. We had to do a lot of « hike a bike » sessions but this day will stay in our memory.
I love this Bike 😀
