Got out for a decent ride despite the washout of MDW. One of the many flag murals by a local artist. Oh, and the bike is pretty nice too.

The bike is nice indeed!
I really want to pick up one of the Specialized Allez Sprint frames in one of those funky colors to build.
I used to ride Specialized when I was younger and did BMX and some trail riding.
But ever since I've been riding road I have been a Giant fan.

I'm an old Chicago guy - born in Oak Park with a birth certificate signed by Richard J. Daley - and grew up in Joliet! Love the pictures of Chicago. Life long fan of Bears, Bulls & White Sox and, like all true Chicagoans, hate the Cubs. Also have 3 Schwinns including a 1973 vintage Paramount with all the Campagnolo fixings. Now my home is in the Muscle Shoals area of northwestern Alabama where I've worked & lived for the past 45 years. Great place to retire!

I got a Sprint in orange/yellow fade. Love it!

Nice!
But would you have it as your only bike?
And of course I have to ask...how heavy is it?
I really don't have the space (or really the need) to have more than one bike.
So if I were to pick one up my full carbon Giant would have to go.

As a strict adherent of n+1, this question does not compute.馃榿

That's it! I've been dithering about getting a scale, now you've forced my hand! I would put it somewhere ~18 pounds if I had to guess. It's a fairly adept all-arounder, little bit of aero, stiff BB and light enough with regular wheels. That said, it's my "race" bike for days when I actually go and like, race.

Allez Sprint is a fantastic bike! If I had to keep only one of my bikes, this would be the one.

Well, you all make a strong case hah.
I'm not in the market for a new bike quite yet, but the TCR is getting to be about 7 years old now and I haven't been exactly...delicate, with it.
I believe I posted a page or so back inquiring about anyone's experience with Canyon but I do not think I got any replies.
I do like Giant (I've had 2 of them now and I bought my wife a TCR as well), but was thinking about making the move back to Specialized or possibly trying something totally new and picking up a Canyon.

I wold never by a canyon. It's a direct sales product and for this reason much too expesive. Imagine, specialized would sell their bikes direkt without any dealers, the would be much cheaper than those canyons and Specialized is a real brand with tradition, dealer contracts and research, canyon is just a cheap assambler.

Ok so correct me if I'm wrong here but If I'm comparing the the Canyon Endurance CF SLX Disc 8.0 to the Giant Defy Advanced SL1 what is going to be the main difference here?

https://www.canyon.com/en-us/road/endurace/endurace-cf-slx-disc-8-0-di2

https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/defy-advanced-sl-1

To me, these bikes are spec'd pretty much identically, yet there is a $1000USD price difference in the two.
So, I understand what you are saying about them selling direct, and yes, I don't disagree with the fact Specialized bikes would be lower priced if they were sold direct, but the fact of the matter is...they aren't.

I suppose if you want the "tradition", or if you want your local bike shop to actually carry the bikes and stock them, then perhaps Canyon is not for you.
I work on my own bike, I don't need a shop to do that for me, nor do I care if I don't have a local shop that carries the brand of bike I buy.
Aside from all of that, if I am just comparing bike to bike, parts to parts, is there really $1000 worth of difference there?

And please understand that in no means am I arguing your post!
I appreciate your input, but I need someone to REALLY convince me not to buy one haha.

Don't worry, my post was a little provo as well 馃榾

If you dont need any support and a canyon fits it's ok for you. I allways think about the tradition and i like to support the brands which do research and introduce innovations first. If every customer would only buy the coppies there will be no more originals in the future. And all the specialized employes can't buy any watches anymore.

Well you do bring up a good point.
Fit.
That is obviously a VERY important thing to consider when buying a bike.
Hard to do when you can't go to your local bike shop and sit on the thing!
