Mine in OG strap as well

These pop up on eBay periodically, they are 16mm, not 18mm as one would expect. Single pass with a simple buckle. The tell tale is the weave of the fabric and the step on the sides-it’s very specific.

And to answer the OP’s question, if you’re in the UK- here

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-NOS-U...=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

In the US- here

Because they are 16mm, you are going to show a little spring bar- that is how they fit. All US field watches were 16mm (5/8ths) lugs starting with the A11 (several strap types used from WWII through Korea). The single pass nylon like this was used from the A17 through the 80’s and didn’t change despite the Benrus and Hamilton field watches having 18mm lug width. Some people can’t stand seeing spring bars (I am among them) but I make an exception for these as it is how they are supposed to be worn.

This one is wearing full flair like mine- OD strap and WCC compass. (Although I cant believe these have shot up this much in price)

These compasses are not waterproof, thus had a short run in service….and wear like a tumor on the front of your wrist and catch on sleeve cuffs….but they are badass!

I have also seen them come on their own strap as a wristlet- which I believe is how they were meant to be worn (probably on the opposing wrist from the watch).

But like mine, I have seen many with the compass mounted on the strap with the watch (probably not issued like that and done by the GI- perhaps some vet’s here who wore them could weigh in on how the military intended the compass to be worn).

Thank you all for the great information, background and links. My watch is currently on a NATO but I thought that wasn’t the original choice. I’ll post pics once I get it sorted.
