Band suggestions for my favorite Omega

My dad bought this watch new, and wore it until he replaced it with, surprisingly, a very similar Omega. When he got his new watch he gave me this one, I am guessing that was 40 years ago, I am not sure how original it is but its sentimental value is off the charts for me. The plating has chipped of in a few places but otherwise it is in excellent condition and keeps perfect time. I have always worn it on a black leather strap as shown here, and that is how he wore it too.

It is a fairly conservative dress watch, 35 mm including the crown. I wear it in rotation with my other watches. It is my favorite and I would like to elevate the watch with a new band. It takes an 18mm band and wondering if you might make suggestions on what would look fabulous on this vintage Omega. I have considered a gold bracelet but have not seen one that looked good on this watch.

The photo was taken inside and the watch face is not white but rather a god color. If I'm not mistaken, think its always been this way,

Thanks, in advance for any suggestions or advice.

Very nice watch, even nicer dial - what a way to remember ones dad. 馃榾

We don鈥檛 know you and/or what you wear, of course. If you鈥檇 like to keep it dressy, how about a navy blue? If a bit more color works for you, I鈥檇 suggest a maroon croco strap, or - my personal favorite - a dark green. Goes wonderfully with the gold case.

This is really going to be a matter of personal taste, but if you're looking for something dressy, Teju lizard is a possibility. They come in various shades.

We have lists of what Omega recommends for bracelets for many watches. If you have or you can find out the case number, which is inside the case back, We can say what bracelet is intended for your watch, and if it's known whether there is a version that can be gotten from Omega today, we can share that too.

I have seen this watch for my whole life on a black strap so it's hard for me to imagine it on anything else. Thanks for the all the suggestions.

I know a strap choice is very subjective and personal so a little more information may be helpful. I feel the BOR bracelet is too heavy for a smaller watch and a thin gold strap will make it too dressy for everyday use. I usually buy Hirsh stamps, but this time around I'd like to buy something a step up, something that is commensurate with how special the watch is to me.

Oh, good gravy, you want a step up from Hirsch? Honestly, you can pay more, but getting better is difficult, because they're one of the best.

I suggest one of two paths:

* Get an Omega strap and buckle. Write their customer service and ask for part numbers, They will tell you how to order.

* Find a shell cordovan strap. A really good one.

Good luck!

A new artisan, period design strap. Brown or whisky gator is a good alternative to your black one. Definitely not a bracelet watch. You can get lots of new ideas on band material on here but they just don't cut the period. Try and stick with the taper strap design, maybe a deployment clasp, and a unique but understated leather. Stingray for example isn't what many would choose 40 years ago.

Black lizard. I am tired of seeing brown straps paired with gold watches. Just my $0.02.

Start with a period correct gold OEM Omega buckle and go from there. Full cut alligator would be the standard high end choice, but I also like teju lizard, ostrich or Tom鈥檚 suggestion for a really nice shell cordovan.
