@Shabbaz that is a beauty! Do you think it would resemble more of a dress watch with a black leather strap? I tend to get confused when I see the braclet style. I was looking at this particular model for reference.

@JwRosenthal that is right on the money! There was one recently sold on Reddit that I would have loved to snag. Probably for the best I missed it.. Bit out of my budget.

More in your budget might be a Universal Genève Polerouter. The black dial variants on these are stunning (photos borrowed from Chrono24):

I’d say the earlier version could well have inspired the Tudor Prince Tuxedo, and the later 1960s version is not too far from the SMDV...

The Tudor princes like @Shabbaz would actually be dressier than the Airking on a strap IMO- and about 1/3 the price. Factory bracelets always add a bit to the value- but to me a Rolex just doesn’t look right without it’s bracelet- that Tudor would look fine on leather. These watches (any of the 34mm Rolex/Tudor offerings) are the bargains from those brands.

On my other phone I have a wrist shot with leather strap. I will try to transfer that picture and post it here. The picture with the steel bracelet is'nt even my wrist but from the person I've bought it from. But it looks beautiful on a leather strap.

IWC also did black dials on a few models I believe, but those are out of my wheelhouse.
And although it’s easy to get hung up on black- don’t forget about slate.

I have worn both of these on oxblood or tan leather and they look fab!

Hey that later version is pretty close!! Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't come across it.

@Shabbaz would love to see it! I've been looking at Tudors the past few hours - such a handsome brand.

@JwRosenthal the slate looks very slick.. Are they likely to be original (more so than the black dials)?

Those are very much original, but rare. That said- rare but not expensive. The technical dialed Seamaster and the C-cased Connie’s can be had around $1k

This may be more than you want to spend, but you could make Jose an offer. This beauty has been in the forsale subforum for awhile, so there is probably room to negotiate.

I really think this one is heavily overpriced. With $ 2800 you're in black dial arrowhead connie land. Even with a lower offer it's still too expensive IMHO.

Anyway, I tried to get a picture from my old phone but it's not there anymore. So I need to get the tudor out of the vault.... hmmm

Indeed, I think it off by a factor of 2.
