Asking help for verifying these two watches

Hello all,

I've been following the sub for a year and ready to commit to my first vintage connie and seamaster. I've referred to online photos of this connie but want to make sure everything is good. I couldn't find a lot of 165.001 with cal 565 to refer to.

The two watches are:
1. 168.0065 Constellation. The seller said it was serviced and running at -3s/day.

2. 165.001 with cal 565.

Can you guys help me verify that everything is original and maybe let me know what you think they're worth?

Thank you!!

Welcome @mcnuonuo

I’ll leave the Seamaster to others but the mid-70s ‘Japanese-market’ Connie looks to be correct.
Good sharp lugs, (some scratches bottom right lug) correct 1011 movement.
I would hope the pics are pre-service as the case and movt don’t look clean enough and the gasket seems to be the wrong size. (Gauge)

Prices for these are up and down at the moment.
A nice example recently sold on eBay for what most considered a high price - thread here.

There are also links to others in the thread

It’s easier if you tell us what the asking price is and we can give opinions on whether it’s sensible or not.

Hope that helps.

Because the 165.001 should house a cal 552 and not a 565. 😉 The first Connie looks really good though. Nice dial, sharp case, but definitely not serviced. What about the second Connie with the 561 movement, any more pics? 😉

I am confused. There seem to be 3 watches being shown or discussed here. The 70s Connie which looks nice but I am personally no fan of the ugly 10XX movements, a 14902 caseback which is a another Connie ref and then a 165.001 is mentioned. 165 is a no-date case number, 166 is the date version so as noted above a 165 would have a 55X movement, the 166 a 56X or 75X if it has a day window too.

Try to amend the pictures with a gap in between the two watches. Or stick to one watch at a time.
And
Tell us the price as there is a difference in a Australian price a US price and a watch in the EU
Makes it easier for us to give a recommended price range if we know where in the world you are.

Just split the images between the two watches.

I found that I attached the wrong photo, He's also selling a 14902 but I'm not looking at that one. Apologies for the confusion.

OK, in that case the Seamaster has had some monkey business since it shouldn't have a date window with that case number. Probably a replaced caseback at least. That doesn't look much like either the 165.001 or 166.001 so is likely another model altogether, but should start with 166! It might be a 166.010 but not certain. Avoid if the caseback is wrong.

If it has been properly serviced I would say that is a pretty decent price.

Yep, I cross posted an edit with the same. Deffo had a back swap though.
The seller has gotten back to me and said that he matched the wrong case back in the seamaster shot.

It is a 166.009, he's asking for $680.

Here's the video he sent me.
