I bought this gold Longines a few months ago and finally got it back today (I'm still looking for a new crystal)
The lizard strap was hand made and it arrived Saturday from Vietnam .
I have several black strapped watches and several brown strapped watches, I wanted something a little more funky.
Opinions?

Great thread. I have a huge collection of useless deco crapola so I will be adding numerous post in the coming weeks.
Stainless Steel Vacheron given as a graduation gift in 1934. Research reviled the owner studied engineering at the university of Michigan.

About 25 years ago I bought a huge pine kitchen dresser off the top story of this building. The lifts weren't working as it was due to be renovated. I walked the parts down the fire stairs..... Probably 20 trips up and down.
I restored the dresser and found it was too big for my house so I put it in an auction. I got absolutely slaughtered, it should have brought 5000, I think I got about 700!!!

These radios are the Patek Philippe's of collectable radios. This colour and model is rather rare.

It doesn’t say period correct to me, but I like it! I don’t think it would work if it was faux-lizard

You don't think I could get more than $40 for the Hamilton? Come on....
You did well. I was watching this one just for interests sake. Described as working, but I think it went a bit low - there were no movement shots

Wow, what a beauty. Making me realize I should post the one below in this thread, now that it has a proper strap.
And that radio you posted is insane!

@me1969 I like that watch and the green lizard, it’s a great color!

I like both watch and band but not how they look together. IMO band detracts too much attention from the small watch, with that watch I'd wear a subtler band.

This is a plaque circa 1935. There used to be one fitted to every county council building. Its about 1200mm in diameter and although its cast alloy its bloody heavy. I guess most of them were scrapped.

Here's a link to one that still on a building. A pity its been repainted.

These used to be all the rage but times have changed. I’m glad I sold the majority of my stuff before it died in popularity. There’s a number of radios at Juliens Auctions. The estimate is 7K but I don’t think that many people are interested anymore. We’ll see

It's interesting how the value of antiques change over time, a reflection of fashion trends. Prices of antiques such as furniture have dropped 80-90% over the past decade. These two articles in the NYT* describe the phenomena very well (article 1 and article 2).

* no longer available in the WH, btw...

partly it’s a generational thing too. Young people just aren’t into that type of collecting or decorating

Exactly what the articles mentions. It appears that unique sculptures are currently "in" to decorate instead of antique furniture. Like this Katsuyo Aoki and Shinichiro Kitaura medallion, which features, ironically, rococo inspired styling (250 k$).

Looks like a waste of 8 tiles.

This just in yesterday ::psy::, a circa 1926 Elgin pocket watch. 15 jewel grade 315 movement, one of apx 1M that were made during the 315’s reign.

I’m going to get his one serviced and enjoy wearing it 😀

I love those blue hands 😎
