Smiths, Everest, Deluxe and Astrals generally go for silly money but they are a nice refined movement, Smiths did themselves no favours with there pocket watch range which just cheapened their image, its nice to see however that collectors have seen past that.
They did a good job trading on the whole everest, first to the top with Sir Edmund Hillary, just a shame that the company went by the wayside.
The Smiths watch company is a good website for these as you probably know. https://www.smithswatches.com/collections/all

I didn’t know about the website. Thanks for letting me have the link

Since beginning of these week I'm wearing my newest arrival, my new to me Speedmaster Professional 105.012-65, produced in June 1966. This reference is THE Moonwatch to me and I'm absolutely over the moon with this watch 🥰😁 I still remember when I got into watches (=Speedmasters) I made a note on a Speedmaster overview that I printed out, that I want to own this reference hopefully one day and early this week that day has come ::psy::

Just bought this tonight, I don't see them too often but missed out on a mint example recently that really pissed me off so I will take this one as a consolation even though it looks like it will need a fair amount of work!

Titoni Space King 999 Probably an AS1896 25J inside.

I'm trying to save for something in particular, so I can't be distracted. Well, that's the theory. Sometimes, the itch becomes unbearable, and I need to get myself a little something to make me happy without depleting the watch fund too much.

Over the last couple of years, I've bought a couple of Lemania stopwatches, one for EUR 40.00 on a local online marketplace, and the second one for GBP 23.00 on eBay. Honestly, I thought the latter would never be beat in terms of bargain. Well I was wrong.

Here is what the princely sum of EUR 11.53 got me on eBay last week...

I stopped by my local Swatch store a couple of days ago and walked out with a Mission on Earth Lava MoonSwatch. This is my second and likely last MoonSwatch purchase.

Just bought at auction and picked up tonight.

Running order but date not changing correctly with misalignment.

You can see that someone has worked on it in the past, a less knowledgeable watchmaker, who has put the separate minute chapter ring in the wrong place with the PM script being at 34 minutes rather than the correct 28 minute mark.

It also has an aftermarket replacement crown, non Roamer but luckily I have a spare correct OEM one which I will liberate from the above posts stainless MST437 with a gold plate (GP) crown and have ordered some correct OEM Roamer Stainless crowns in for the Stainless Roamer MST437 above, so with a bit of mix and match it all works out perfectly, sometimes the universe is kind!

Has an interesting presentation and date inscription on the back so I should be able to trace the original owners details which always makes for an interesting exercise in working out the provenance of the watch.

Thats the 4th Roamer MST437 I have bought in less than 3 weeks!

I have a fondness for Roamers and would like to see the ‘after’ photo as and when it’s ‘spruced up’ 😉

It looks nicer in the flesh, the dial is 100% perfect as is often the case with these waterproof mono cases.

I have quite a few of these MST437 watches now, about 20 and none of them have the same Dial though this one is close to another recent purchase but none are identical, it's quite bizarre, Roamer must have employed a man to make sure no two dials would ever be the same.

Not sure if its an original OEM crystal but it will polish to new looking however I have already ordered a replacement Sternkreux ( non OEM ) crystal should it require it and these are the exact profile of the original OEM Roamer lenses.

The back needs a little straightening but nothing major, the worst feature is the damage to the lugs where an expander end links have worn into them, can't do much about that however with a proper strap, polished or new lens and a cleaned case I have always found that the lug damage is blended out by the eye.

Well, always have you in mind as the go to Roamer expert. They made attractive, reliable, unfussy watches but didn’t move on like similar brands such as Oris and Rotary managed to do.

Well, always have you in mind as the go to Roamer expert. They made attractive, reliable, unfussy watches but didn’t move on like similar brands such as Oris and Rotary managed to do.

The company still exists today, headquartered with factory in Switzerland but company ownership is I believe in Hong Kong so it managed to survive the quartz crisis and the f'ing around that the Swatch group did to it.
When you look thru their later lineup of watches you can see they cheapened production doing away with their patented waterproof cases except for dive related watches, eventually they abandoned their own movement production and used ETA movements rather than developing their own new ones as they had prior to the quartz crisis.
Though they did still make a couple of their own movements for quite a time, usually 17 jewels but fairly innovative in function and features, they also made their own electronic movements too. Their persistence and determination did pay off in the end as it still survives to this day but their heyday was really in the 50's to early 80's ( in my mind ) though early 30 and 50's watches are excellent easily on par with other well respected brands.
