Bought this today as it really intrigued me.
The PM (Promethium lume) on the outer minute track puts it into a very specific time frame as this lume type was used only for a very short time.
The thing that had me confused was the Roamer " r " applied logo which typically doesn't appear till a much later time frame, late 60's and 70's rather than this very early 60's format or very late 50's. The other confusing point was the separate minute track which likewise is an early 60's thing.
It's certainly not a franken watch as it all correct just not expected.
The other thing that stands out is the applied partial Arabic markers that standout with their very tall aspect which is magnified by the slightly smaller 33 mm case size as opposed to the usual 35 mm which also used these exact markers ( and look great ) but really pop on this dial.

It all ties in with the OEM crown which is of the early type rather than the 'r' signed crown which you would normally see with the applied 'r' of the dial.
The logo is itself one I have not seen before with it's colour scheme and mechanical construction being slightly different than the ones that came immediately after.

A very worthwhile addition to my Roamer collection and I won't hesitate to say is rare with it's combination of age and features, a must have for me!

I had an unexpected little bonus from work in December, unexpected as I retired in July, so I decided I could justifiably look at a watch purchase. I have always had a hankering for a vintage Grand Seiko, the whole Taro Tanaka grammar if design philosophy appealed to me, I love the geometry of those original case designs. I found a lovely 1969 6145 8000 and it arrived yesterday. All the usual superlatives apply, looks better in real life than pictures etc. I have 3 Omega Constellations and the GS definitely stands side by side with them in terms of quality and aesthetics. I think the case may be refinished but not by the original seller, and maybe not, it's very sharp, no matter though, it's very pleasing to the eye. Seriously considering selling one of my modern omega's to delve deeper into this rabbit hole...I ramble on, pictures.

Vintage GS are so worth the rabbit hole
Enjoy!

This in this morning, a very early Roamer Anfibio with a 33mm waterproof case, non PM outer minute track.
Missing the second hand and sold as not working however arrived and it worked exceptionally well when I wound it ( watches seem to love couriers).

Looked like a real mess in the seller photos but after a quick lens clean looks much better, the Roamer patent monobloc cases really do protect the dials from moisture inflicted damage! Even more so than Omega Monoblocs.

Bought it as I have never seen an Anfibio this early and it has a stainless steel case and OEM crown, real bonus is that it works very well so just a replacement lens, service and a second hand.

No idea what I just bought, but it was cheap enough to take a chance on. It has a 1960s feel to it, but the no-lume stick hands and markers aren't too familiar. In the photo, the dial appears to have a faint brushed or linen pattern, but it could just be an artifact of the crappy pictures along with some spotting.

With beefy lugs like that, I would expect a coat hook S. I wonder if it is a service dial. I easily could be wrong as I am not a true expert. Regardless, I really like the watch. Congrats on the find!

OK, let's ask Kyle and Norm, they will probably know just by looking at it. It's the watch two posts up, @kyle L @X350 XJR. Unfortunately, I really have no other info.

Many thanks, Norm, exact same dial and hands (even including the black inlay at 3-6-9-12). That would be great, because I picked up another 165.009 a while back (different dial and hands) and I do like it. I guess I should have recognized it myself.

These are a cool reference, blending the fat lugs of the fifties with later 55x movements and screw backs.

Wasn`t on my bucket list but couldn`t resist on this Seamaster Chrono 145.006.

Case is a bit polished but the dial is in good conditionand the watch was serviced recently. Even the price was fair so i pulled the trigger 😀

Didn't even know this model existed - nice pickup! Dial style makes sense for the 60s.

I am quite a fan of vintage Zodiacs and recently I was fortunate enough to be offered this lovely 1953/4 first Zodiac 10atm diver. How could I resist.

The eBay seller (these are his photos) asserted that the watch is in excellent condition and working and keeping time - so fingers crossed.

First watch of 2024 is a Defy. Nice lume, sharp case and on ladder bracelet.

Needs some TLC though. You can see the gasket melting around the crystal, although fortunately it doesn't seem to have reached the dial.
