A funky Seiko mod from eBay because my 5 year old asked of there are any Godzilla-themed watches.

Now, to find a red non-gmt bezel to make it slightly less ridiculous... Also, I feel this should have Seiko monster hands.

Just back from my Watchmaker this morning after a service.

Original glass and crown.

PS I think you could call me the Roamer 44 King now, persistence pays off (PPO for short).

Outside Omega, Nomos is my next favorite brand for their simple, elegant, Bauhaus designs. I just pulled the trigger on the 55 pcs limited edition Tangente x Revolution Neomatik. I love the color, design, and cool math tie-in (Fibonacci sequence). Can't wait to get it.

Yes! I agree. While totally not practical (but much of what we admire about mechanical watches in 21st century IS impractical), I do love the look and quirkiness of it.

This Enicar Ocean Pearl / Star Jewels turned up in my letter box this morning.
Manually winds and ticks but the auto wheel rattles like hell.
The case is in exceptionally good condition with little apparent wear, you have to look quite hard to see.

The Omega also came in the same package, non running with a broken balance staff but other wise clean movement, so it's off to my watchmaker with both of them for a long overdue refresh.

Another Roamer back today as well.

This one has an interesting history I think.

The second hand is plainly not original however there is a name inscription on the back which after a bit of sleuthing led me to the conclusion that the original owner is a well known photographer.

Back in the day when this was new ( late 60's)
As many of us know, photos were not digital and required a dark room to develope the negatives and prints but it was all dependent on timing with precise timing for time in solution etc ( been there done that).

Roamer Mustang Indianapolis watches of this reference don't have luminous hands at all so they have been changed out, definitely the hour and minute hands are Roamer but that critical to the process of photographic developing second hand I am not so sure but it is a big luminous hand as befits it usage.

Mystery solved! All thanks to an inscription.

I have been of late buying a few watches with inscriptions on them and have a wonderful time researching their original owners sometimes like in this case success but other times not however persistent searching will 9 out of 10 times yield a result if the inscription is suitably detailed.

And finally today another new to me arrival.

Believe it or not this is my only Bulova signed watch, plenty of nice Caravels but only this new to me Bulova.

Got this one the other day at auction in nice condition but the day wheel was misaligned just slightly and the lens had been polished but without success, looked ok but not perfect and given that the dial was perfect and the stainless case and signed crown were close to new looking I decided the lens needed to be new too and along with a service as the daily rate was hundreds of seconds out a day.

Accuracy measured dial up and dial down, well pleased!

Arrived back this morning with the 2 above.

This wasn't my only purchase's and arrivals today, also purchased 3 Rail Road grade Waltham's this morning in perfect condition but those photos can wait for another day whilst I recover from Wallet Shock!

Some months ago I took a gamble on a Seamaster 105.004 which was described as not working. The pics wheren't that inviting either.

After a short chat with the auction house and some more pics I was convinced that it might get a beauty again.

This is how it arrived after service. (my watchmaker told me that the movement wasnt touched before)
Pretty satisfied with the result.馃榾

Came in the mail from Japan. A franken 1967 Omega Seamaster 300 in running condition.

Is it a franken or just fake?

I'm continuing to corner the market on cheap, funky Technos watches.
