Farer ‘Halley’ Moon I couldn’t decide between this one and the ‘Eddington’ during pre-order, so I ordered both. The Eddington should arrive this week.
How do you like it so far? They have a lot of fun models. I keep thinking of picking up one of their world timers in particular, but don't have any way to check them out in person, unfortunately.
I do love the moonphase complication. I’ve only had this one on the wrist for a few hours, so I’m not completely sure whether I will want to keep this one, or the Eddington. It’s a beautiful dial, and I love the luminescent yellow Moon. Didn’t like it at first, but I’m getting used to the polished topsides… Fit, finish, and workmanship is excellent… My first Farer was the Farer Lander GMT IV, and it’s a definite keeper, with that blue-green stepped dial.
This just arrived by courier 15 minutes ago. Sold as not working but it works perfectly. I bought because it has a stainless case, " Superwaterproof", 20 Bar rating, has the original Edox signed crown and the dial is potentially mint. This is how it arrived, past owner must have liked his BBQS as the acrylic is fried either that or he got to close to a car exhaust manifold. A few minutes after I gave it a quick lens polish. Hmmm that ain't gonna fly so a new lens will be needed. Part of the mystery of vintage watches is what's on the inside so off with its pants Not to bad at all. A few minutes after a full wind. I am liking this new purchase more and more, will check it again in a couple of hours to see what the power delivery from the spring is like I expect it will be even better. ** Edit** an hour and a half later.
Just got this last night when my wife returned from a short trip to Germany. This one is a little bittersweet. Sorry for being a broken record. I've posted many times about how many grandfather-in-law in Germany was a big collector and has given me a bunch of watches. He passed away earlier this year and I got two watches a couple months ago after his service. This one was also saved for me and will be the last watch I get from Opa. "The Buttes Watch Company was founded in 1924 by Mr. Arthur Charlet, at his birth place in Buttes (Canton Neuchatel). The “Val de Travers” an aesthetic high-lying valley in Switzerland near the French border, is well known for watch making during the 18th century." - Source BWC started out making pocket watches and made their first wrist watch in 1930. They are still around and German owned. Full history at their website. https://bwc-swiss.de/2020/11/01/geschichte/ The watch is 35mm without crown and 42mm lug-to-lug. Great wearable size. It has an ETA 2783 with quick-set date. It's very similar to an Omega C-case and I looks amazing on the wrist. The dial has a silvery champagne color, lots of blue highlights, and the lume is all perfectly intact. I also love the date at 6. Case back has only a name engraved on it, "Christoph Hallebach". Thanks for reading.
This arrived today... I'm thrilled! Thanks @JwRosenthal for his insights Ps: everything looks better on a watch pad from @DaveK
Agreed, straight to the point and great advices I'm thrilled as it really looks better IRL than in pictures... Not only the object itself, but the watch model really! Not my last one, but I'm worry to have found a new obsession
