Simple three hand vintage watch by BUCHERER.
Upright indexes are a nice touch.
Unfortunately, the crystal is scratched and the 9 o'clock side is shaved off

Picked up this elusive 166.028,with concentric circles and an orange second hand, from and eBay auction at the beginning of the week.

The case appears to be in original condition with factory finishing albeit with some wear. The crystal is not signed / does not appear original to the watch so I'll be looking to replace that in the coming months. And the lume has partially fallen out of the minute hand so the watch will definitely need a service to bring it up to snuff. For those who may be interested to see , here are some close up photos of the finishing:

And the hippocampus engraving is the sharpest I’ve seen in person:

The photos in the listing were iffy at best and I was hoping that it would be in a little better condition but all considered I’m very happy with it. And c’mon would you just look at that dial!!!

I’m definitely a sucker for this dial, hands and reference combo! 😁

Lastly, a big shoutout to @dsio and all their tireless work of posting the possible great finds of vintage Omega's on eBay. Without their posting of this watch I would have missed it, so thank you!

New to me, landed today.
Was reported to have come with an original buckle but it looks like it's faux. Too bad...
Apparently this was serviced recently by a tuning fork expert named Bob in Thailand, anyone familiar?
It appears in pretty nice condition, any opinions?
Tia and Cheers.

so the story is that I wanted something casual to wear with a green shirt.

I liked SMP 300 but dealer wouldn't play ball.

I looked at these 2 much lower end pieces.

And what do you know, I bought both of them & both absolute bargains!

Any thoughts appreciated.

Bought this on eBay on Monday for not much, and it arrived today. The photos were blurred, so it was a bit of a gamble… I gave it a clean and polished most of the scratches off the crystal, and took it off the dodgy 70s bracelet onto a new strap. It needs a genuine crown, but it came with original box and papers which was nice:

What’s nice is the back has an engraving - 1969 Powerboat team - that was an around the UK powerboat competition…

Mine says hi! The nato looks so good on it, but I swapped to a different strap because I just know I'm gonna immediately spill coffee on it somehow.

Still a diamond in the rough, the case is completely shot and there’s quite some gunk on it, but that dial… 🥰 Been looking for one for quite a while, got a replacement case (in steel) ready for a transplant and I can’t wait:

Another junk watch chronograph from GW. Mostly I want the retro looking case to see If I can fantasy a Landeron movement into it. This had gone unsold and relisted a few times in the last month or so. Of course when I went to bid on it someone else bothered to bid before me and the same amount. I managed to snipe the bid in the last second which cost me a couple bucks more. Not an easy thing to do with GW that does not have a countdown timer. (but I did have some other chronographs to time the last bit with.)

It is here. I swapped the bracelet with one from the pair of LCDs as that has the embossed National Semiconductor logo. Not quite the right angle, much than the cheap BOR bracelet that was in the eBay listing. Have not tried powering it yet. Not sure what batteries it takes.

I have always wanted some of these 1970s Nat Semi LED watches. I think there was a point where I was not going to get another (non omega or chronograph) watch until I found one of these.

There is one other model I want which is the NOVUS branded one. Although I like this classic look better.

The junk MK watch also arrived. That thing is the size of a small pocket watch. It is not that much smaller than the Speedy and the chronostop. Somehow the design (and the camera perspective) makes it look Ginormous.

My plan it to gut the movement and replace it with one of the nekkid chronograph movements I am working on. I also plan to drill out the back to make a display back.
