Closed the deal today...should arrive from the UK in a week. 35mm bumper movement, original dial and hands. 9ct gold...(not unusual in UK watches).

Nice. Be sure to be extra careful (no shocks) because the bumper weight axle is very long and thin (0.3mm diameter if I remember correctly), so it is very fragile. It also pivots into the center wheel. A jlc design if you ask me (meaning 🤨). Most of these have bent, worn or broken axles...

Found 2 more watches for my goddaughter's growing collection... Which I'm basically building for her (gimme a good excuse to buy watches!)
I believe I had shown the Tissot already, but it is now back from the spa, and now I found her a Bulova Snorkel... Which means I need to find one for me now 😁

Here’s two more I’m very happy to have picked up.

Nice! Let me know if you need to “catch and release” that Superman 😉

I found this one in an antique shop recently and it was cheap enough to take a gamble. Normally, I would label it fake based on the hands and appearance of the dial, but the lume burn is puzzling me. Also, we took it apart in the shop and the dial was quite patinated from the back and all seemed to fit well and was consistent. The movement is correct
Other than that, I've never seen this Kirova script. Does anyone have an educated opinion on this?

Kirov was the guy, who was assassinated, and this assassination started the first purge by Stalin (although it is a weel accepted that the killing was arranged on Stalin's request). To commemorate that commy troglodyte, Kirov, that is, many factories were named after him. Among them was the first moscow watch factory. This is what you see on the dial - !st moscow watch factory, named after Kirov.

Got this lovely 165.002 from none other than our very own @Davidt ... blue/grey/slate dial, no date, recently serviced, and I'm a sucker for a jubilee bracelet too. Thanks to OF for the money sink, as usual.

Thank you for your input, but I was referring to the form of the writing. An original dial on a sturmanskie should look like the attached. This being obviously more recent, I was wondering how the lume burn got there. Most probably it is a sportivnie with a later dial.

I picked up this Mido Ocean Star Calibre 80 as an everyday watch over the summer. The case is rose gold PVD with a fabric strap. It wasn’t expensive and it wears really nicely. It’s 41mm.

Most recent... and boy did I get the timing wrong-

visited the somewhat local to us Rolex AD back in June to try on the new'ish 36mm Explorer. Fell hard for it and "expressed my interest" as they say. Was told December at the earliest.
September 22nd took delivery of two Serica watches (their diver and their field watch) as I really liked the overall design points, prices were right and, of course, I am a sucker for anything with a broad arrow hand! The very next day the Rolex AD texted that the Explorer was in. Happy but stressful - that would involve some tap dancing to the wife.
Three watches in two days felt very indulgent. The Serica diver has issues (hacking is inconsistent and the hour hand "floats" rather badly when setting the time and pushing in the crown), the Explorer is great but I sorta forgot how much I dislike Mercedes hands and the cheapest of the three - the lowly little mechanical Serica field watch - is absolutely fun to wear (even though a daily winder with a screw-down crown is odd).

Didn't take a photo of the diver because it's pending return back to Paris.

Just picked this one up. Originally, these were made by Tidemaster, but this version should be even more rare. Condition is OK and case is "bioceramic".

Picked this up this afternoon and it is on my wrist. Everything the seller said, everything I was hoping for, and more. And it proves again what a good size 34mm to 36mm is. This is 35. The date window alternates from black numbers on white background for odd days, and white numbers on black background for even days. Have to acknowledge Vintage Gold Watches in London for this fine piece.

That is utterly beautiful. Well done sir.
