Hot off the bench!
I won on ebay this 1952 Bulova Air King a few weeks ago. I just finished servicing the watch. Besides a thorough cleaning of the movement, I put in a new mainspring and crystal. The movement works great. The dial is excellent and so is the case. It came with a funky wristband too. It鈥檚 a dazzling watch!
The bracelet is worth mentioning. It has large metal borders that surround lizard skin areas. It also has a two "windows" to insert metal letters for monogramming. It compliments the design of the watch very well.
I am a bit unsure what to do with my recent arrival. It was quite expensive and I spent the money, because I felt that it was quite rare in that condition and size. However, the seller specified the size at 33mm and it actually measures 31mm (w/o crown), which i feel makes quite a difference in value for that period (although most are 29mm). I cannot get to see the movement, since it has the typical fixed back lid (waterproof).
It is lovely though and I still like it, but it has some bitter taste, so I ask openly, should I keep it anyways at 31mm for 300 EUR?
As for value I can't comment but I think it's a terrific looking watch. My Bulova military watch is about the same size and I wear it often.
Thank you, that's the issue here. I like it a lot as well and with my wrist, it's not a big issue (i have smaller watches). Just need encouragement not to go after the seller and let it be... 馃
Originally bought it off eBay early in 2021 but that seller claimed it went missing from secure storage, about 8 months later it reappeared on eBay with a different seller, 100 % the same watch.
So I bought it at the now much inflated price, glad I got however as looking at it closely it is obviously an unworn new old stock item with the only marks being damage done by the numpty who changed the battery for sale (flat on arrival).
The same numpty marks are what absolutely confirm it to be the same watch as identical to both sets of shady sellers photos.

This is the only example of this reference that I have ever seen online ( or in shops in the 90's) in fact all images on the net are this exact watch, so I figure it is now rare.
Another package arrived today, and this I couldn't be happier with. A Poljot 3017 with black dial in very good condition (almost NOS) to join my beloved Strela. Just need to do some basic cleaning up and polish the crystal. 馃榾
Not that I'm trying to compete with @gbesq here, but the postman rang twice today. 馃槜
My girlfriend is not very happy, but I am. This was more of an opportunistic purchase, where the price was right. They need a service as the chrono is stuck, but the condition is very good and then they will join my other 3133. 馃榿
Purchased nearly two months ago, but finally arrived yesterday. I like it more than I thought I would. Will probably become my new surf watch over my G-Shock.
