???
Well y’know, some old collector is slowly dispersing his collection. Never mind what he’s sold, let’s have his number and help remove some of the financial stress from @Boojumhunter before he gets hurt 😀

Worth the wait though.

Nothing of that kind! I was just interested because I have a watch from this era to identify . ...

Saw that on TVS. Nice pick up.
Thanks Pianotuna, I've never seen a white dial age into a purple dial (unless someone helped it along with a chemical bath). The watch itself is in great shape and runs well. I'm really happy with it. Couldn't believe the prices recently for the Panda and silver Pogue from TVS.

TVS had another one a few days later but nowhere near as good. Uneven blotching on the dial whereas yours is consistent.
I’m a fan of the big Seiko chronos and it’s great to see exemplary examples getting Swiss-type returns. I wasn’t so surprised at the panda result, actually more surprised that the gold dialed ‘Aussie’ 6139 a few days back got only 1700. It was in much better nick than the silver dial with a nearly flawless case.

Two new additions:

1910 Elgin 18s Father Time. I took delivery of this a bit over two weeks ago. I usually run a watch for a day or so to get an idea of condition prior to having it serviced (a terrible sin, I know, but I can't help myself... I gotta try it & know)

Anyway, I ran it for 16 days (really dumb... yes, I know already...) and the stupid thing is running inside of 15 seconds off the correct time at the end of that time. Less than a second a day?! Friggin Yankee railway watches!!!

Anyway, check out the regulator... yes, that is a curved threaded rod with a double ended castle nut on it... think about manufacturing it. It hurts the brain.

AND, a very old and dear friend was showing me some stuff he brought back from Europe recently including a box of spectacular coins.

I must have seemed pretty excited about the stuff as he gave me the coin below, a French Marianne 20 franc gold piece. Neither of us are coin collectors but we both appreciate beauty... a Sovereign or similar gold coin was on my bucket list (along with an 18s 3/4 plate Elgin like the one above) so its been a pretty good week.

My wife always liked my stainless and gold 1958 birth year Seamaster, so when I saw this a similar stainless and gold Seamaster from her birth year, 1959, I couldn’t pass it by. I’m looking for a correct crown for it. Should anyone have one they are willing to part with PM me. Cheers and good hunting!

I’m not really a dive watch fan at all but I’m quite taken with this limited edition Yena Superman.
The camera doesn’t do it justice as in the flesh it’s a nicely impressive piece on a reptilian style (is that the name for it?) bracelet.

Here we go friend!
Thank you very much! I am very interested in watches from the 40s especially because it could help to identify the watch I recently offered to my husband. Someday, perhaps, we could have it opened by a watchmaker, but for the moment, having been fully serviced before I bought it, my husband is quite reluctant to have it opened again just for curiosity ! !!
