Another 90's speedmaster. I've ordered a 1171 uncle seiko. Should arrive tomorrow. And group shot of the recent arrivals.
Just arrived today....NOS dial for my 1958 LeCoultre....the diameter of the dial is correct...from the seller’s photos, the feet on the back of the dial appear to be in the same position as those on my watch. I will find out on Thursday if I got lucky and found the correct dial. If not, I will be looking for both the right dial AND the right watch to fit the dial that just arrived. This is how collections grow out of control...
I've been hunting a Seamaster arabic dial for quite some time and yesterday I locally found this: ref. 165 003 from 1966, serial 2300xxxx. I'm happy with it, now it needs a service and a new crystal
Today's arrival, a little lord elgin! Been looking for a vintage dress watch for a while and this little guy caught my eye. A little piece of American horology. This ones a 21 jewel manual wind in 14k yg. Might be small for some but I love it. I have plenty of larger watches lol.
Bought this 9K Longines Flagship automatic in an online auction recently. All up with commision and carriage it cost me £517, did I pay too much? Seems in need of a service and clean up.
That is a lovely elegant understated beauty. Seiko always did some really tasty elegant watches that show up how garish some so called posh watches are. I'm looking at you Rolex!
Yes it's quite a looker! I love how one can appreciate these because they are so aesthetically pleasing (to me), wear superbly well and yet don't stand out in a crowd and shout LOOK AT MAH BLING BLING. They provide a very accessible entry way for one looking at getting into vintage watches. Sadly, it looks like hype and hyperinflation is building up around a range of certain vintage Seikos. Another bubble appearing zzz.
So my other purchase came in. Think they call it a bulova "royal" astronaut. Solid gold bezel and gold filled case with coffin bracelet. The astronaut and speedmaster top my list of coolest watches ever so it was a big day for me. Happy times!
Well, if this 50 year old Seiko were a 50 year old Omega, it would have to be a redial given its condition but at £100, and taking the case and everything else into account, either it’s not been worn much or had a new crystal.
No idea, I liked it when I saw it in the photos and bought it but it turned out it but wasn’t very comfortable, the stiffness and padding didn’t help. It arrived this morning and I wore it when I took the dog on the Heath. It’s now on a much softer ‘artisan' band. If you like the original strap you can have it - it’s previously unworn. Pm me if you do and I’ll send you more pictures.
