Check if the spring bars are gold 😀
They are not and I should change them, right? Do I need a pair in solid gold or can I choose some other that doesn’t tear the gold in the lugholes?

...I am not sure. If you won't be using the watch that much, I am sure it isn't necessary.

My thought is just using it at dressed up occasions so it should be fine. But came to think that it should be a substitute in some softer metal if you don’t want to spend the money on gold springbars!

Picked this 145.012 up Monday. Money transferred about a month ago and it just came out of servicing. I had only seen the before pictures. It was dirty and had a cracked crystal but was otherwise unmolested. Needless to say I am ecstatic with the watch. (It came with the original bracelet but the dealer gave me this leather one as the bracelet seemed fragile to me and I would like to wear it. I also kept the cracked crystal, which is evidence that I am loosing it. ) It also answers that question if you could only keep three watches, what would you keep?

Sorry for rambling. A new watch.

New strap from Horus for my bumblebee Aqua Terra >15000 Gauss. It was listed as Speedmaster strap, so wasn't sure it would fit but worked out well. Little bold but I'm digging it. Living in Pittsburgh, black and yellow is my color scheme...

I like that strap for that watch a lot. But who am I to judge - I have a couple of watches with a bold yellow strap myself.

You are not rambling. In fact, you can keep talking and posting pictures if you would like! 😎

My pleasure, thanks for nudge.

The movement was so brilliant after cleaning that it was hard to get a shot without glare. I had to darken the shot to get contrast. A transparent caseback would be nice. So pretty.

The reverse thread screw was broken. I guess that this caused it to sit in a draw for awhile. It had nice dirt around the edges, which often accompanies an unmolested watch.

My local dealer offered it to me. I was actually second in line. My budget was for a 145.022 but he showed me this and that killed the budget. Blessed with the wisdom of this forum, I followed the advice to buy the nicest watch you can afford (barely). Plus he offered to clean it and gave me the band so I can wear it.

I have bought watches from ebay looking for a good deal. But this purchase opened my eyes to the fact that your dealer probably has the nicest watches, which end up being the best deal. (See the recent post from the pianist. Who finds so many beautiful watches? The watches seek him out.) Plus, it feels good to support a local dealer in these difficult times. Turns out we live about 8 blocks away from each other.

I'm rambling again. Side effect of stay home.

Wow! Is there even room for a movement in there?
The case is 7mm thick including the glass. Probably exist way thinner watches out there though.

I mentioned during last weeks Time 4A Pint virtual GTG that another Seiko Sea horse was on its way, and yesterday, it arrived! This one is a Seiko Sportsmatic, reference J13055. Its powered by a 17 jewel, automatic Calibre 2451. Was produced in September 1964. And is somewhere between 37 and 38mm across - possibly what Seiko fans refer to as a “jumbo”. It’s got a bit of damage to the dial, and the case has the type of wear you’d expect to find on a well used, 56 year old watch. None of this information was in the eBay listing - so a bit of risk. But at £50, one that was worth taking!
