I really haven't bought much this year. There wasn't been much that has popped up on my radar that made me "need" to have it. That changed yesterday.

So today is all about cleaning and assessing ... let's see,

The background is a Doxa stand clock with a handpainted plaque, circa 1925. She's trying to run but definitely needs a service. There's minor loss of the old lume infill on the 11 but the bits are floating inside the case ... we might be able to stick those back in. I'm not even opening this one .... Straight to Pete!

On the left, we have a time only Junghans ... as it came

And after a light clean

On the right is my first ever Polerouter!

The inner bezel is loose; the tip of the hour hand is missing; the seconds hand may be a replacement (comments from those who know are welcome). I may well need a replacement handset for this one .... But ....

Ain't that glorious?!

I also picked up another stand clock (with two others, not pictured):

And then this one's waiting for collection:

Finally, this one came back to me (hopefully not for long - I'll be listing it for sale this afternoon):

It's the fullest of full sets you'll ever see ... every receipt, booklet, box and link that it was delivered with... and a recent service from Mr. Freese.

And, in between all the watch stuff, I got these and have repaired, consolidated and conserved them. Looking forward to practicing my French:

It's been a fun weekend!

What is going on there?!?

It looks like a thirties Omega "scarab" case modified to house a chronograph??

It was described in the listing as a "custom case", I assumed that meant it was manufactured with a custom case option from Tissot but since you mentioned it I asked the seller. He has not responded yet but expect him to soon.
He's a Dr and has been very good at responding to messages.

If you don't mind me asking.... How much did you give for the Polerouter? I love the look. I am on the fence about the size.

Finally quenched my thirst. After a few missed opportunities, I won this one. 176.007

An object lesson in picture marketing. The watch is in much better condition than the Ebay pic would indicate.

I purchased my first luxury watch around the holidays last year and it was the new Omega Diver 300 in black. Within a couple of months, I started lurking around forums, subreddits, and IG accounts and just became hooked with the Omega brand. Fast forward to just last month, I purchased an Aqua Terra 41 mm in Blue and am very excited about the small collection so far.

This is my first post and I hope to become increasingly more involved in the forum!

A “boat watch / beater” was needed to the supplant my Speedmaster and beautiful old Planet Ocean.
A new Seiko SKX009K fits the bill. Cheap as hell, but they’re highly regarded and have a great reputation.

Same photos are over on the WRUW thread today. Sorry to inundate you folks, but it’s a new watch and I’m wearing it, so both topics apply. Have a good one!

Great bang for the buck - my SKX009 from 1996 (with slightly faded bezel) is still going strong, on a jubilee style bracelet. I really like these budget Seiko autos (have the SKX007 and 173 too, plus a pair of more recent Turtles).

This old thing...
If you'd stop settling for all these old watches and saved up, you just might be able to get a nice new shiny Rolex one of these days! 😉

Congrats, that is truly special and seeing it is always a joy!

Here's one I've been waiting on, a black dial (actually it's more of a warm dark gray gray) Bell-Matic on a bracelet. I was sweating the bracelet size but it just fits! 😀

I picked up the Speedy GSOTMM in June while on a business trip in Chicago. While there, my salesman also had me try on a few other ceramic cased models (since I took interest). Well, I couldn't get the blue ceramic PO out of my head once I returned home so I had my sales guy ship it to me down in TX on the 16th. 😜 Shockingly, I did so at the encouragement of my wife. I married up.

This arrived today from the Netherlands and @cristos71. Wrong model to say I am over the moon about, but now I am "waffle-ing". It's hard to catch all the warmth of the beautifully patinated dial.

Congratulations McKinley. That is a gem.
