I did that last August and bought the car - that's why this year has been fairly quiet on the watch buying front.
Watch fund took another hit today...... I'll clean off the roof rack and side moldings and step rail. Bell Tech 3"/4" drop and 18" Torque Thrust wheels. When the motor goes, it will be my LS Swap project. Oh, and hide the antena.
Two recent arrivals. AJTT had been high on my buy list for a while, as had one of these watches from the 1930's. This one has a 26.5SOB T2 movement and sterling silver Dennison case. It is by no means a perfect example and the watch is small (as expected at 30mm) but there is something about these dials that fascinates me and I had to give one a try.
Those casebacks are very nice! When it's on my wrist, I turn my Speedy over at least two or three times a day to watch the movement in action.
I'm off work next week and not going away - so I bought myself a project watch. These are the bits I need:
This very rare silver Cushion retailed by J.E. Caldwell of Philadelphia in 1932, and made by Hamilton (1 of 53 silver Cushions made with the 987 movement).
I think I might have been Imelda Marcos in a former life. (Is it possible to have lives overlap?) Anyway, got a $35 Allen Edmonds gift card AND a Groupon to Sherman Brother's Shoes on Sansom Street - who could resist? - and picked up a pair of Vernons and a matching Trafalgar belt: On a recommendation of a friend in the know, bought 3 bottles of 2012 Lemelson Pinot Noir to cellar for a few years:
A couple of euros for what once it has a new crystal should be quite a nice wee beater. My Certina contingent is certainly increasing in numbers
No. It's a Speedy MK II. I stripped it down this afternoon in case I needed to buy any more parts and ignoring the fact that it was swimming in oil and had loads of bristles from a brush inside, the only other part I need (subject to closer inspection after cleaning) is a screw for the pallet cock, as one was missing. I'm on an 861 roll at the moment having serviced the Arsa, my GP Mk II and my soccer timer, the last of which should be cased this week, after I have finished adjusting it, I'll also be having a play with the dial foot soldering machine - it's definitely watch week.
