I've only recently come to appreciate the Caravel watches. Long ago before I ever really gave vintage watches much thought I remember the Caravel was looked down on as an off brand alternative to Bulova, lower cost and lower quality, though apparently these were quality watches.
This just arrived... with thanks to @Northernman for his help. Now I have to figure out what to do with them....
Great find.! Simple minds will point to using them as watch straps, but I am sure more creative minds can come up with other possibilities.
Not sure that was what @sxl2004 had in mind but since I’m a lady I won’t elaborate or otherwise comment.
Weapons Grade Watch Have had a yen for some years to take a Seiko Turtle out for a spin so gathered this 6309 7040 into the "Home For Wayward Watches" for a test drive. Been wearing it 24 hours and it's accurate by my unfussy definition, appearing to have lost 6 seconds. While its size and weight may be nothing special by current market tastes this is a large and heavy watch to my way of thinking. Am surprised at how comfortable it is to wear on its original rubber strap. This is a bit of a departure for me who has always admired dress watches most of all. Being retired from an office environment I'll branch out a bit and wear a large beater occasionally. Not too keen on the lack winding capabilities but can get used to it. Day/date are a couple of features I don't care for, cluttering a dial, but it doesn't look so out of place here and is very easy to set. Don't care for the hands on this one. They look poorly re-lumed so may keep an eye out for some better originals for replacement. May also find a better bezel. Might just leave the original bezel be. Seller's photo here When compared to my long-time ol' Glycine beater or to the Zodiac Sea Wolf, this thing is huge.
Congrats on a great watch Note how the lug to lug distance is only a bit larger than on you Glycine. These things wear deceptively small.
