The question was really about the Hamilton as I already have one of the plated versions of the BP Waltham, but thanks for the info and picture of your nice example. Mine arrived a couple of days ago and looks OK but the bezel is frozen solid so I'll need to try and free that up. I guess I'll have to be careful not to damage the insert though.

And the Hamilton turns out to be 34mm too, although it looks smaller. Seems to run but winding was stiff/rough, which on investigation seems to be because the movement ring isn't lined up correctly and is contacting the stem inside the case. Is that an easy fix ?

Movement ring realignment should be easy.
Freeing a stuck bezel is an interesting task. I would start by masking off the bezel insert and then applying WD40 or similar gently around the edge. I have freed a couple of bezels that way. One of them had no rust/corrosion, but some kind of sticky substance (sugary liquid?) gluing it stuck. Good luck!

Bought at the weekend, at a local antiques market in London... A dealer had boxes and boxes of old watches, parts and straps. Found this NOS Expandro strap, end links are set at 22mm but can be clipped down to 20mm... These were made I think in West Germany from the 50s-late 70s, and are well made and very solid.

Anyway, it caught my eye as it had an early Speedmaster bracelet vibe - photo of the strap and then one for comparison with my NOS 7912 - it's actually more robust and weighs more than the 7912:

Best of all - it cost me £2!

Just purchased some watch straps form Howard ( @Optimizer13 ) and am very impressed!👍 His company is called The Veblenist and the web site is WWW.theveblenist.com and I highly recommend a look. These are high quality buttery soft straps...here are some picks of the four I bought...

I especially like how the strap on the Seamaster brings out its faded gilt dial!🥰 There is a subtle texture on this strap that the pictures aren't really showing, too bad because it looks brilliant!

Buckle is a nice touch too.
not sure what to do with these yet...looks like I'm going to have to buy more watches.😲
I have bought straps from many places and these are some of the best quality I have come across. I think I need to get a 20mm black with grey stitching for my Excelsior Park chrono!😉

It was technically many months ago, but I just got it back from servicing and hadn't worn it yet, so I'm going to pretend that I just bought it / received it immediately.

not up too your standards but I needed a cheap black tie watch, only 9ct gold on black leather, its quartz obviously, but it was super cheap. apart from the make it fits all the rules understated, does not stand out and I can take a quick glance every now and again so I can get a discrete flyer at carriages.
