Just taken advantage of eBay.com.au's 18th birthday offer of 18% off site wide. (Promo Code has now expired, sorry)

Was going to get a robot vacuum cleaner 😒 but wisely plumped for a watch instead. 😁
Got a new Seiko SBDX017 (MM300) winging it's way from Japan.

My most expensive "new" watch ever, by far. So thanks to the enablers 👍 (other threads I hunted out this evening)

Or just keep saving for the MM300 and lose the upgrade bug unless you really must have a spring drive.

I wouldn't even consider paying the RRP, but if you could pick up an SBDX001 or SBDX017 for £1000-£1500 you'd be winning.

In the end there was little difference in price to eight year old SBDX001's so I'm hoping that there won't be much 'cost of ownership' with this one. Hoping even more that it's a keeper.

eBay's currency conversion within the listing was once again disappointingly inaccurate. Why they can't be linked to the live PayPal rates that they're actually going to force upon you I don't know.
Maybe I could have done something different? But I was racing against the clock before the promo code expired.

Congrats! Was watching that one from the start. The dial is really hard to capture in a picture but looks great in real life. Here's my PG capped:

Today, ladies and gentlemen, is a day to celebrate. For today is the first Saturday in a long time when I didn't buy a broken watch (or ten). Instead, today I bought two absolute beauties in full working order and keeping time to the second. Not bad when you think their average age is almost 100 years:

Waltham A-11:

Nothing more than a few cosmetic marks on this beauty. It even has its original canvas strap.

The other one bought today couldn't be more different. English (I haven't found a maker's mark on it yet but I'm guessing it's a Liverpool maker) in silver with a dial that is a work of art in silver and gold. Fusee movement is also ridiculously clean, it's just a shame I can't seem to get a decent picture of the dial indoors with the light ...

I should add, it does have its dust cover - I just took it off for the photos.

Found an absolute stunner brown DON :

How crazy this will look fitted on a watch with a dark chocolate dial, can’t wait to try it on 🥰

That pocket watch is impressive. I agree about the dial. And it has a fusee too...!?! Man, how cool is that. do you have an idea of when it might have been made?
