This came in today. It's modeled after the A-13A 8 day clock found in many cockpits. It's just dandy.

Who is the maker? Can't quite make it out.

Who is the maker? Can't quite make it out.

It's a project started by a pilot named Paolo from Italy. He decided to design, prototype and manufacture his own custom watch based on his love of aviation. A pilot's watch built by a pilot.

Here's his website:

This was picked up off Ebay for little cash outlay in order to sample the convenience of a vintage watch with an alarm feature. Sat in the Post office all Labor Day weekend before being rescued on Tuesday. Had time this morning to photograph it. Since Tuesday morning it appears to have gained about 20 seconds per day. Likely won't be seen again on the Forum until after it has a service and a crystal.

Auction photos

I'm not very familiar with vintage Favre Leuba. I'd figured on picking up a Vulcain Cricket, but this one intrigued me as it appears to be a more uncommonly encountered alarm watch model. Has an attractive stainless steel case of substantial weight for its 34 mm size. The alarm is strident, yet not grating and works great.

Awesome find, congratulations

Andy Lewis at Ultravintage (Ohio) does all my work when my local preferred watchmaker here in Aust is unavailable. Contact via IG.
Hi Blubarb, fellow Aussie here. If you care to share I'd love a good watchmaker recommendation down here. Cheers.

Waiting for it. Impulse buy.

I don't want to be rude or anything, but what made you go for this one? It has been severely polished, to put it mildly.

EDIT: Not that I don't understand the concept of "impulse buy", far from it 馃榿

After selling both my Speedmaster and Submariner(sweet offer by a co-worker for both watches) I have put a deposit down on the new Sea-Dweller. Hopefully I will get in mid 2018 馃憤

Bought this lovely strap from Aaron at Combat straps. By far the nicest strap I got for any watch.

Also just got the IWC back from service from our very own Al. He has serviced most of my watches and he never lets me down. It runs perfectly.

Then I got this awesome dry rub a week ago from @Baco Noir. If you get a chance you must pick up a pack. Best dry rub I've had.

Cheers
Chad

Picked up this lovely wee Smiths a few months ago but finally got it on a strap and have had a go with the polywatch. Still a long way to go on that front!
Absolutely love the hands on this one - and 'made in Great Britain' in the dial is a bonus!
