For all you newlyweds, a lesson from an old-timer (married 44 yrs. next week).

You buy her this:

and you get to buy this:

A 2179/2 US ARMY that I have wanted for some time.

More patina than I'd like and a scratched caseback, but the case and movement are quite nice and it seems an honest example.

A special thanks to @JimInOz for all his help and for being a great friend.

Glad it panned out UncleBuck, are you going to put it on a period cotton strap or a nice US Army tan strap?

PS: I'm sure Chanise is a very happy new car owner too.

Thanks Ed, the case is amazing to my eyes, I'll try for a good lug shot but in the meantime this is all I've got:

Same answer I gave the Weber sisters in '69....."both"!!

Jim, a serious answer is that I would prefer the period strap.
All I know for sure is that no NATO will rub that caseback, the engraving is light.

I bought the movement a few weeks ago, a regulator last week, a case a few days later...

and picked up the results from my watchmaker yesterday, a 1901 Waltham model 1892...

I've always thought that watch collectors are feeding something of their inner child. For me, my inner child is a lot less inner than most, so it gives me the greatest of pleasure to add these two to my collection:

That's just the auction catalogue photo. They'll be with me tomorrow. a 1976 and 1977 Snoopy Tennis Time(x) .... unworn condition.

Saving up hard these days forces me into buying cheap no-name watches (not buying at all is just not an option!), which actually turns out quite a lot of fun.
Here's this French made 70's divers piece I just received, looks very pretty imo

Watches should always make you feel good by just putting them on .... The denim needs work but the yellow is ticking like only a Timex can

And now, brace yourselves, the money shot:
