Okay well, I didn't buy this one, nor did it happen today. BUT! It did arrive today. Last month my gf bought me a watch for Valentine's Day. Great gesture and she's perfect and she knew without me saying anything that I didn't like it. It was a Bulova Marinestar chrono. Just not really my style, and she paid MSRP for it. We returned it with the intent of swapping it for something else but I said no to her paying full retail price because that's just too much to be spending on me(especially at this point in our lives, we are young and both still in school with loans etc) But when I stumbled across this sales posting and she saw it over my shoulder she asked how much he was asking(she knows I've been in love with this watch). She told me to message him and get it as the replacement. So here it is. And I'm in love! Need to get the bracelet sized down but for now, NATO.

    Congratulations on the new watch.
You are so lucky to have such a nice girlfriend. Mine doesn't buy me watches nor allows me to buy any lately .

Just a small, accidental purchase on the Bay.
1959 Seiko Crown. Nice original condition and quite tidy for a 57 year old.

Oh not anytime soon. Those are already back in the safety deposit box. It is a very rare collection, I would not even risk photographing them
In love with the girl. In love with the watch. And if she wants to wear it, I'd be ecstatic! Maybe one day she will start borrowing from the watch box:)

The thing I wasn't expecting would ever happen finally happened. Now the grueling insecurity of shipment and import, and...I can't stand it. There is nothing about this last last leg of the hunt that is enjoyable. And @ChicagoFrog's recent experience with a long searched for piece going suddenly "LOST IN TRANSIT" also has me a little unnerved. That DHL is involved doesn't make it easier.

So I'm feeling a bit like the cliché of that aging criminal in the bank heist movie promising himself "just one more score, and I'm out! ONE MORE!"

    Omega Speedmaster 105.003:65 tropical 1.JPG

Which would be great if I didn't have two other totally different pieces incoming from earlier purchases.::facepalm2:: One I really shouldn't have and will probably end as a catch and release.

The other I purchased many months ago, and finally arrives together with a visit from my mom, where it has been stateside in her care for a few (very long) months – in an effort to avoid exactly this sort of shipment stress. And that piece I look forward to even more. It is gorgeous, yes, but it also comes from a fellow OF'er and an incredibly stand-up dude, so a lot of good karma and goodwill coming with that one.

Lots to be thankful for watch wise this year, and still a few cool things to look forward to and post up in here. THEN I am done...for real. Quite done!
