I managed to secure this 38mm Angelus Chronograph with glossy black gilt dial and Cal. 215 movement. I can't wait for it to arrive next Tuesday.
Wait until Basel, my brain said. There might be something nice, my brain said. But... then... @mdgrwl went and listed the exact freaking watch that I've been disturbingly obsessed with for what feels like forever. Seriously, this watch! My gosh... this watch! Look at the darn thing with it's adorable little Rolex headgear on the bezel! I even said to Matt privately, it's not really a grail, in a lot of senses, but in others it totally is. I kind of see grail acquisitions as something that come with a risk of getting into deep trouble with loved ones, where they're sure you've gone completely mad, where they arrange a circle of chairs and lock the door and tell you everyone's come because they love and care about you. But this watch! It is, to my eyes, the most perfect current production Rolex, period. I have a serious weakness for time-only pieces, and I just know this is going to be a major "friend" during the rest of the journey of my life. Basel be damned, this was destined to be, and in that sense it's totally a grail piece. Matt, you're a freaking rock star and such a delight to communicate and do business with. I'd better go, people have gathered and they're calling me to an impromptu meeting in the living room...
That blue dial with those orange accents! Is this one destined for a strap or will you keep it on the bracelet you think?
