@Jonatan thanks for your feedback. It was a big help in making the final call to pull the trigger. I love the uncluttered dial and the moon phase takes it up a notch (at least to me anyway). Can't wait to for it to get here!
That is the first pic of the explorer II I like, I think it's that great strap you have it on. What is it?
NOS Universal Geneve, I love it, not much interest in the three hand watches anymore ! In its day making watch movements thin was the technology of its day, this watch is very thin ! Comfortable to wear !
One of the last 2016 purchases A Seamaster 30, ref. 125.007-62, cal. 269 from 1963. With an not so often seen grey linen dial (hard to take pictures of)
I just pulled the trigger on this. It comes with an unused bracelet as well. It's obviously a personal sale, and I have to wait a few days for it to arrive, but man am I excited:
So, in other words, you knowingly and willfully failed to adhere to the stated thread parameters? I'd be willing to bet that you also brazenly disobey "DON'T WALK" signs on street corners.
In the same manner, I'd love to show off the new Bergeon screwdriver set I've purchased, but the one "What did you..?" thread is specifically only for watches, and the other one prohibits watches and anything related to them...
This is what I bought yesterday in a small private auction. It is a 1942 or '43 Waltham WWII A-11 Navigation watch worn by American pilots, navigators and crew by the Greatest American Generation military aviators. I have well over 100 watches including many Omega's and many military watches. This is my first Waltham. This watch is not so special as a watch. Many were made. It is the near mint condition of the watch as well as those who wore this watch that make it special. That is why this is the first watch I have displayed in this forum. I am hoping those who love these watches, regardless of manufacturer, as well as those who appreciate the aviators who flew and those who died wearing them, giving our generations the opportunity to live as we do, will appreciate it.
Just arrived today. I picked up both of these from QVT (in Ontario) and just received them tonight. Typical of his service, he sends them packaged with an added touch. First one .... A cal 266 37.5 mm with 20 micron gold plate. Second one .... ref 2750-4 35 mm. Both are from around 1953. And they are fully serviced. Poured myself a single malt and enjoyed the 'late Christmas'. Here's another rule breaker: Apologies for the rubbish photo, but I had to show off this newly arrived cal. 23.4 "Scarab". Lovely little critter and carries the dual record of being both smallest and oldest in the collection
Ref. 5412 Longines pointer date from 1948, should arrive tomorrow! Shuffling my collection a little to justify this one.
Snagged from a German ebay listing on New Year's Day. Loving the sparkle dial - movement needs a service and there's a little bit of case tidying to be done.
