Fresh from Sacremento to Savannah - an Elgin B. W. Raymond c. 1960.

35.6mm diameter case and in generally excellent condition. The Elgin 730a is adjusted to 6 positions and hacks. Made in the very last days of US watch manufacture; Railroad Grade.

Congrats! Was watching that one from the start. The dial is really hard to capture in a picture but looks great in real life. Here's my PG capped:

After missing out on a Longines Cal 23Z case a couple of weeks back, this popped up on eBay:

A full Cal 23Z watch for parts!

My dial and movement will finally have a home 😀
Here's to the chase!

A little early birthday gift for myself. Strap suggestions? It's on a decent nylon but has a cheap buckle. Figure I'll go with a nato.

@blacksharpie - I was going to give you a "Like" right up to the part about putting that watch on a NATO. 🤪

Mrs G was absolutely correct. 👍

Walking down a street in a town in northern Italy and spy this: a 40mm Eberhard pre-extra fort.

Walk inside and ask in my execrable Italian if I can have a look and it turns out that it is a bad redial.

As I hand it back with apologies, he says he put the new dial on and he still has the original.

Breguet numerals to match the Breguet hands, and an original buckle as well. She'll be off to the watchmaker for a service and to be returned to her original self as soon as I get back to Aus.

Nice one! Dibs please!

Italy is full of treasures. Lovely story, can't wait to see it together.

Hi

I used to have a centenary 2500 years ago . I think I sold it to a forum member here !

I saw a 2499 and remembered the one my watchmaker bought it presented thicker then the 2500 and I always thought it was cooler and only 2000 examples . So I bought it , case appease not to have been polished just worn and bezel is sharp and with some nicks and scratches lugs thick and have edge on bottom of case . Appears to have original signed crown. The dial is original with some age an a scratch or dot or two ... Crystal was changed to a high dome will see when I can find a low rise crystal for it sometime in the future . The original gold spring bars were not present ....

I have not a chance to pop off the back yet but sellers photos showed it to be proper 28.10 JUB !

These first run JUB movements are special in my book .

Good hunting

Today we have a kind of street market in the neighbourhood and I found this. Just couldn't resist, you know the box and paper thing. 20 euros gone and I am the proud owner of a Macroscope.

My Heuer run continues. Added a Carrera 2447N second execution with some dirt and scratches but great bones. After a servicing and a new crystal, should be a gorgeous example!
