Seems I can't afford anymore Speedies so I compensated with also buying a book. Great transaction with OF member @devnull. I will be well informed though.

I bought a nice speedsonic, both a speedmaster and a seamaster, with an f300 movement. I was reading about the technology used in this watch, developed by Bulova for their Accutron range. The technology used in the watch was also used in space rocket intstuments and in Satellites so it is kind of a little bit of a moon watch too. I don't have any pictures of my own, but I bought it from Tom Dick, who always has amazing examples of watches for sale and is great to buy from.

This arrived this morning, to swathe my disappointment at not being able to fund the Defy el Primero which @donkii snapped up. My first Zenith, a 1973 last execution (287E) Defy tonneau case. It has issues, has been polished and has a replacement crown (which I hope is not made of unobtainium, if anyone has an original crown going spare do PM me), but the dial and the glass are perfect. I like to wear all my watches though, so no safe queens here馃榾.

Hey guys (and girl) - do not laugh at me now...
Try to laugh with me instead.

This is not within my normal interest but since the 80-ies, when I was not interested in watches nor had the means, I sort of have had a latent thing for these. I could not get one then - when all the wealthy "in" guys had one. At the disco, in a flamboyant shirt and with some chains around the neck - this was hot then.

Now I think it looks a little "game of thrones" and this example has the right amount of dirt and wear for me to get interested. This all steel 40mm chronomat, with the black subdials and grey dial and black contrasting deep inner bezel, looks like a tool I believe. The UTC does it for me. I would not have bought it without the UTC. Got it at a good price and box, papers (1989) and reciept is included. Black shark strap with grey contrasting seam is already on the shelf.

A little light reading material?

Nope, but certainly a good warehousing solution for a few of my straps 馃槜

Since this photo I have actually filled it and am currently searching for another one.....and yes, I do now realise that I have a serious problem...馃榿

Bought my first speedmaster today. Completely unexpected. Got into that vintage watch shop full of rolexes. They had a speedmaster. It was so much more beautiful in real life than on all these OF forums. Not sure i'm gonna be able to sleep tonight.
And it looks even better on my wife's wrist.
