It is my understanding that the crown wobble is a design feature to try to prevent stem breakage.

Didn't think anyone would want more pictures of this 😀 It's a Boctok Komandirskie Tank and my guess is that it's from the late 80's.. I don't know much really. Manual wound c.2414 which tells me nothing actually. Like all these Russian watches you don't get the most precise timekeeper but you'll get one that usually works.. It's a screw down crown and if you screw it out you might end up in winding mode or time adjustment or both at the same time. The crown wobbles a lot and for me that's something quite typical for russian quality.

You are probably right. When I think about it the crown was like mounted on a spring. Interesting solution 😀

While I normally don't do tutone or 34mm, I couldn't resist a 1 owner with papers and chocolate brown tropical dial 1005. It was serviced by Rolex in 1989, but the dial and hands were not swapped out. What is even cooler is that it was bought at the Navy Exchange in Guantanamo Bay on October 7, 1962, just 10 days before the Bay of Pigs crisis...I love history, and this connection is awesome. Hopefully my wife likes it, as it will be perfect for her. Apologies for the crappy seller pics.

Not much of an expert on Russian timepieces, even if they are extremely common around here (the "most popular brand" topic would have a whole lot of different content in Eastern Europe); just a small correction - the B is actually V so it's actually called Vostok. The Russians monopolized the brand and made several re-editions of this particular model, with tanks, paratroopers, boats and submarines painted on the dial.

In Romania, for instance, if you ask someone above 40 years old on the street what a good watch is called, he'll probably rank Doxa, Longines or Atlantic above Omega or Rolex. It's also interesting to see the general reaction towards mesh or Milanese bracelets around here; as nobody saw any until recently, they are ranked anywhere betwren weird and horrible 😀))

My uncle owned an Omega before WW2 (square case, actually identified it in AJTT with my grandmother's help); his brother-in-law (my grandpa) a Doxa and my other grandfather left me a bunch of Russian timepieces from the 60s and 70s. My father's regulars before 89 were a Doxa and a Helvetica, now wearing a Tissot I gave him 😀

I have, perhaps, bought this little piece:

UPDATE: The PP issue got handled at the very last minute and the watch is now on it's way. Not to me, but to an intermediary, who shall be referred to only as L'american... 😎

Yeah I know that the name is Vostok 😀 But I like to name it as the Russians 😁
Longines and Doxa is great pieces and in some ways I can understand why you want to rank them above brands like Rolex.

Just a bunch of wine that's all over the map in price, from $10 bottles of Jersey Rosé from a Mullica Hill NJ winery found on an aimless country ride on Tuesday, to some serious Comte de Vougue 2007 Chambolle-Musigny because of a nice deal via email, with a case of JJ Prüm 2011 Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese thrown in on the way home from work last night because it was on sale at one of my local liquor stores.

No watches. Sorry ladies & gentlemen! Been pretty satisfied with what I have left after the purge. 😀

Looking familiar, @kyle L ? 😀

Unfortunately, PayPal has decided that I needed to verify my identity and accounts, so my account is frozen. Have explained the situation to the seller, really hope he'll let PayPal sort it out and not cancel the transaction 😵‍💫

Very nice! Hope you get it! 😀

Just got this in the mail today from Kringkily. Speedmaster 3507.51, really love it. A modern interpretation of the black dialed Rolex Daytona "Paul Newman" 6263. It was a little less than the $1,000,000 a Paul Newman would cost.
