Not much of an expert on Russian timepieces, even if they are extremely common around here (the "most popular brand" topic would have a whole lot of different content in Eastern Europe); just a small correction - the B is actually V so it's actually called Vostok. The Russians monopolized the brand and made several re-editions of this particular model, with tanks, paratroopers, boats and submarines painted on the dial.
In Romania, for instance, if you ask someone above 40 years old on the street what a good watch is called, he'll probably rank Doxa, Longines or Atlantic above Omega or Rolex. It's also interesting to see the general reaction towards mesh or Milanese bracelets around here; as nobody saw any until recently, they are ranked anywhere betwren weird and horrible

My uncle owned an Omega before WW2 (square case, actually identified it in AJTT with my grandmother's help); his brother-in-law (my grandpa) a Doxa and my other grandfather left me a bunch of Russian timepieces from the 60s and 70s.
