^I'm a big fan of the metro, well done!

I have been searching for a sub 40mm, inexpensive, preferably manual wind vintage diver to take camping, backpacking, etc. for a few months now and was drawn to the Caravelle diver. After hunting for one the last couple of months, I finally nabbed one. Although relatively inexpensive, and not particularly rare, I love the matte explorer style dial, tritium, 37mm stainless case, and the ode to underworld. This one is from 1966, and is pretty clean overall.

Today I bought this rare Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox, ref. 875.42 (cal. 916), with a gorgeous silver and steel blue dial:

I have to thank @lenny who pointed me to this particular model by his WRUW posting. I was really flashed by the high-contrast dial (unusual for Memovox) and by the applied indices, date window frame, and, of course, the "JL" logo at the 9 o'clock position.

But only today I realized this ultra cool steel blue color:

Please excuse the strap, it's a temporary solution. I will try to match the blue color by a plain flat strap with a correct buckle.

Cheers,

Mick

Double dibs on this one. One of these (in top condition) is on my short list to "buy when found".

Love this reference/dial combo, and that example is one of the nicest I have seen.

Congrats!

This strap for my CK 3950. I have yet to find a suitable strap for it (including the rather flimsy ostrich that's in the first photo), but hopefully this vintage leather one by Jean Paul Menicucci will have the right heft.

...this vintage leather one...

A bit off topic, I'm afraid, but am I the only one driven nuts by all those "vintage style" leather straps?? In earlier times, no decent leather worker worth his salt would dream of supplying straps that simple or crude to anyone, it's simply bad craftmanship! Look at how little skill went into producing those straps and how crude the stiching, if any, is. They can look really great, but calling them "vintage style" is simply insulting to the craftsmen of yesteryear and smacks of a quick way to earn an easy dollar/euro/whatever by capitalising on a current trend... Look at some of the beautiful leather bands supplied to Omegas in the fifties or earlier - those are real quality.

It's called "marketing". Sell what the people want, and people dig the worn in leather look - just not you. 😉 I've never bought one either but I have no opinion on them.

Yes, I wouldn't mind having a NOS '50s Omega strap on this one. Unfortunately I have never found one (though I have found quite a few nice '30s-'50s Hamilton straps).

I actually like the look and feel of these kinds of straps, and shell cordovan straps, that are being made recently. Here is a similar one on a 6605 of mine, quite luxurious to hold and wear:
