thanks for the comments guys. i don’t see any bad comments about the watch so i think these watches are ok. just to comment on the system of this forum, it is really challenging to follow the thread. maybe time to move the system to discord, or discoursehub, etc. im new to collecting watch so im buying three to get started but i’m not new to discussion threads and this forum is like vintage technology nowadays. no offense, nothing personal.

The dials and cases have been heavily refinished so the monetary value is very low, but yeah they’re probably “real” based on that pic. Welcome to the past 👍

Wait a minute, you're coming on a mechanical wristwatch forum and complaining about vintage technology? ::facepalm1::

and your point is, we need to use old tech for the rest of things like riding a horse for transpo or taking a steam engine?

Actually, it's clear to everyone that you're just a troll. Someone with knowledge wouldn't recommend a solution with no understanding of the technical requirements or features. Enjoy your watches.

Regardless of the other elements to this thread, that’s not true. Watch 3 has an original dial and from one poor photo I’d say watch 1 dial is also original.

thanks for the comments. i got this from a watch store and the lady told me that the wife sold the watches because her husband died. he always used or buy two same watches, one for safekeeping or backup and the other for wearing it. that’s the explanation. im a bit skeptical that is why i asked here. the store has been selling stuffs for 83 years. they must have a good reputation but im not sure as im just visiting and just did impulsive buying until i saw some youtube videos warning people about fake omega vintage watches which are rampant. before i bought them, i never expected that these watches can easily be faked. oh well, it is not my area of expertise.

it will be great to have a native app in iphone/android instead of just using the browser. you’ll notice that booking for flights/hotels or buying stuffs on ebay or using slacks are way easier in mobile than in computer. if this forum transitions to https://discord.com/ for example, it is free and has native apps for iphone/android. tracking threads are much easier but it’s just my opinion.

i’m happy with this watch but not passionate enough to really be active in watch collection or in this forum. i’m just dropping-by to check if what i bought were genuine omega watches. anyway, cheers and thanks to those who spent time to answer my querries.

Tough to tell from the poor photo but fair enough. I should’ve taken the time to look at each watch more closely before making my offhand comment. I am mostly skeptical of watch #2, though I concede the picture is too poor for any definitive conclusions.

At first glance, the first two appear to be legit examples of what I'd classify as entry-level pieces, in decent condition, but apparently touched-up for retail sale (e.g. the second watch has been heavily polished and the hands are likely re-lumed). The last one is not a good buy IMO, with a damaged gold-plated case from a less desirable era. Given that the prices were probably high in a retail setting, I would return that last one if possible.

thanks for very good insights. i paid the first two at 800€ each while the last one at 700€. i can return the last one but it looks nice and i like it has a date feature. if the price is too much, i’ll swap it for a new watch.

I'm not going to comment on price, since it's expected that prices will be high in a brick-and-mortar environment. I will just say that the first two are quality watches with some desirability to a collector, but the third is a cheap watch made to compete with quartz in an era where Omega was struggling, and the thin gold plating is already deteriorating on the lugs.

Have they been serviced? If so €800 for a 165.002 isn’t bad. If not, it’s a dealer premium for little benefit.

The dial is pretty badly damaged at the center.

Ah, I hadn’t seen the addition photos. That’s some ham fisted attempts at hands removal.

OP do you need/want 3 watches? At the figure you’ve spent, you could easily get two excellent watches, or even one and get some money back.
