Are Speedmasters as ubiquitous as it would seem?

I fell like Speedmasters are ubiquitous on the forums, numerous for sale and always discussed. However, I have only ever seen one Speedmaster Professional out in the wild. It would seem based on all the talk and pics I would see more out there. I seem to see Subs in the wild on a more regular basis, nearly every day. I just thought the Speedy was just as common, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm in Atlanta so maybe it's just where I live.

There appears to be a direct correlation between the lack of Atlanta Speedmasters and the lack of any championships attributable to Atlanta's NFL football or NBA basketball team.

Just throwing that out there. 馃榾

I've seen quite a few Speedmasters in the wild. Of course, the guys who owned them were not WIS. One even called it a "Speed Racer" watch. 馃檮

Yes, Speedmasters are common.

as an Atlantan, I think I'd agreed with you.. many more Rolies here in Atlanta, though I see a fair number of Seamasters it seems , just not many Speedies.

I would put my money on seeing another Speedy in the wild rather than one of our local teams winning anything...

To use an old adage,"birds of a feather flock together". Just like Speedmaster owners. But when the flock disperses ............? Thousands of Speedmasters pop up on this forum. But try to find Speedmaster owners in a country with, say, 300,000,000 plus! They are to be found. This is where they congregate.

Just like people talk more about Ferraris vs Kias, but you see more Kias on the road.

Since I've taken a keen interest in mechanical watches (the last 8 months or so) I've only spotted 2 Speedmasters in the wild. But they're also the only Omega's I've spotted!

I've lost count of how many Rolexes I've seen in the same period of time.

I've never seen a Speedmaster Pro in the wild unless it belonged to me or my dad. Seen a couple of Auto Speedies and lots of Bond Seamasters.

You gotta wonder how many were fake. 馃槣

In Los Angeles the vast majority of them are as fake as all those perfect bodies you see. 馃槻

I saw two on holiday in eastern Europe, and one patak on the wrist of a guy who's wife looked as though she had more plastic than a shop window dummy,.
