If I get to the point that I sell my collection then I will likely get abstracts for the more valuable pieces to maximize their auction price but not before then.

Actually, that's the kind of watch that would benefit from an extract if the case reference is included since it has a movement that is easily available in much less desirable watches. You would truly get your money's worth if the dial design is explicitly described in the abstract.

Well that's an interesting point because the SMPP with the stepped date at 3 dial Desmond wrote about had a dial description in its extract (which was slightly off as it described the markers as luminous) but it was rather detailed

Maybe, but Omega is going to take the description from the picture(s) you send. I don't think Omega ever kept records on which style of dial was fitted to a particular movement serial and/or case number. So it's not really fair to ask for that now.

True, but if it were a franken or a concoction you'd imagine they'd refuse to write it on the extract

Do they know if this movement and this case were a pair from the factory or not ?

They may or may not. There are extracts that explicitly mention the 8 digit numbers of both the movement and the case - whether or not this is from their records or copied from the pictures/information provided by the owner I could not say.

I would think Omega would have the records to match the movement to the case, but not the movement or the case to the dial.

Whether they would bother to look it up if you already supplied that information is another matter.

Ok, I will send pics of that case with another movement to test if they know or not. 😁

Anyone know how long it typically takes for them to get back to you after you pay?

Well I got the extract, and its interesting, if somewhat incomplete...

This watch didn't come from Mexico, even though it was found on the Mexican boarder, it came from the "French Colonies"

Did you provide the case number or was it provided by omega?
Nice complement to the watch - I think the main value of the archive extract is if it contains the information yours has and if it is a very uncommon piece again like your piece.

I provided both case and movement number, I'm wondering which French colony it could be, in the 1950s the French did have their fingers in a lot of pies.

Well the watch wasn't manufactured until 1956, and all the Frenchmen in that particular neck of the woods had already been turned into baguettes by the locals about two years prior to that
